Calm down folks. This isnt new info either. And yes I know bailout does not equal these quick loans. Regardless, all 3 were in very bad shape and took money. Ford wasnt exactly doing great either. That being said, shame they couldnt get the c7 corvette out for the 100th, very interested to see a full prototype body. |

Re: Happy Birthday Cheverolet
They might have taken a bailout a couple of years ago, but they were on their own the other 98. If Ford needed the money I would have like to see them survive, instead of fading away. Something else to think about is all the jobs for all those years that produce tax revenue. I am not in favor of Goverment intervetion, but I am for saving private sector jobs.

Re: Happy Birthday Cheverolet
For the record,
Ford did not take a bailout, partly because they had already mortgaged the company earlier on their own. Ford DID support the bailout, mainly because Ford uses some of the same suppliers that the other 2 use. If GM and Mopar went under, so would their supliers, which in turn would hurt Ford. One of the reasons outsourcing was not a good idea, (Back in the "Nasser era") sort of like the EU.

Re: Happy Birthday Cheverolet
I've had my share of Chevys. Still have my 93 blazer and love it. Only fords I ever owned was the 1st car I bought; 72 maverick and the 03 Mach I have now. I started and I'll end a Ford man.

Re: Happy Birthday Cheverolet
No Birthday.
When I was back in Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise I read an anticle about Chevy not honoring a rear end problem. GM was repairing the problem for the police units but told civilian owners that GM was not obligated to warrantys because they were a new company. But during the whole Dream Cruise the commercials were advertising "Chevy, 100 years". Sorry GM you didn't make it. And I think GM should be sued for false advertising. |
