4.56s going in cammed mach!
4.56s goin in this week in.place of the current 4.10s. Heard alot of mixed reviews on.the gear of choice. I drive my car mostly city and a little highway although fuel mileage sucks guess ill have more fun with the car and for what I use it for. Might see the track this coming spring as well. Not much into roll racing prefer digs/slow roll. I know ill def need a tire out back. Here's my setup: comp cams 106100s/full exhaust/jlt rai built 31 spline rear. 4.10s. Now switching tto 4.56s and future ported shortrunner. Those who have a 4.56 gear currently Chime in!

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
I have an auto but love 4.56's.
I wouldn't go any higher in a daily driver but love them around town. The RPM's sure do get up there with highway speeds over. Speed limit here is 75. You will like them. Especially at the track.

I couldn't image 4.56's. Crazy fun I'm sure. Heck, you could probably use second to take off from a start without burning up your clutch. Can you get down the 1/4 miles with 4.56's in 4th?

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
I am running 4.10's with a 27" tall tire. I either need to go down to a 26" tall tire or move up to a 430 gear

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
Oh yes I've heard these 4.56s will rip! That's what I'm looking for. I liked the 4.10s but they got a little old after awhile. Since I added the cams the car flat out hauls. More gear is what I had planned with this setup and I think ill be pleased to say the least. Now just need a tire out back and really feel the wrath

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
I suggest the Hoosier qtp tires. Check my videos. The hook good even with a 4.10 gear.

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
Don't fear the gear....
I have 4.10's and they are perfect for a near stock car like mine. Add some cams and RPM with them, and yes...4.56s would be perfect. Sounds like a fun combination there...

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
4.56s and didn't look back. At that power level and 28s I used a 4.88. With a 26s and 27" tire the 4.56s were awesome. Trapping at 115 6800 rpm on the 27s.
I use a mt dr 295/45/17 on the street. Tons of fun and really surprised some un suspexpecting vett owners Last edited by lcaptmorg; 11-29-2013 at 10:57 AM. |

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
I've been running 4.56's for 3 years now and they work great. At the strip using a 26 inch tall Hoosier full slick I cross the line around 6400. I run BFG drag radials for daily driving (weekends). Had Nitto drag radials and they worked good on the street as well with the 4.56's.
You can here the gear wind out and how close the shifts are in this vid. I launched at about 4800 on this one. I was using Hoosier QTP's for this run. http://youtu.be/56gwCFnnkEI It is a different beast to drive on the street with the 4.56's! You will enjoy it. |

Re: 4.56s going in cammed mach!
Not to take away from this thread but to answer the questions asked.
Tires in my vid were Hoosier 27 x 10.5 x 15 QTP which work out to a 9 inch tread as QTP's are measured differently then slicks. Currently I'm using a 26 x 10 x 15 inch Hoosier slick, they work well. I'm All Motor with 363 hp at the wheels, cams, long tubes, ported intake and more. Hoping for 11's come spring time! |

http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearratio.php They are fun that's for sure. The car was loud as hell due to the borla stingers, and having the thing scream all the time got old. If it was just a bit quieter I would have probably liked them even more. And in 4th it could trap 119 at 7000 rpm with a 26" slick. they're not quite that aggressive to not be able to finish the 1/4 in 4th or 3rd for autos.
