Procharger intercooler

Hello!

I aim trying to fix my Procharger intercooler to my 04 Mach.

Is this right?

When I tighten it all up the bolt head will touch / rub the cooler? Plus no spacers were given between the bottom half of the relocation bracket and the cooler?

Any ideas would be great, thanks!

Re: Procharger intercooler

There is not much info out there ... but am I even doing this right?

Originally I bolted the cooler lower mounts to the corresponding holes in the frame of the car.

However everything was tight and touching. Used items AIFB2I-009 (slotted brackets) thinking that they were designed to lower the cooler as there was 3 of them - matching the 3 mounting tabs - am I wrong?

Re: Procharger intercooler

did you look through the thread by NotaGT? it may be covered or useful pictures in there. Littlemags also had a thread from back in the day. I want to say I stacked some washers in that gap at the bottom but Im not sure

Re: Procharger intercooler

Hey,

yeah I have, looked through so many threads.

As the instructions say to bolt straight on to the lower core support, yet other people have used the 3 supplied slotted brackets to lower it?

I did try to bolt straight on to the lower core support but everything is touching, and the PS cooler can't be mounted through it's original holes in the body work.

Re: Procharger intercooler

If those brackets are not to lower the cooler, what else would they be for?

I never used those brackets. I bolted the intercooler straight to the support. And I never reinstalled my power steering cooler. I looped it together with the intention of running a tube and fin type down the road.

If you really want to run those brackets I'd just grab some washers and space them out as mentioned.

Re: Procharger intercooler

be careful about mounting the intercooler too low, the piping will interfere with the bumper cover

Re: Procharger intercooler

the more I think about it, I think weve removed those extensions and the intercooler is just bolted to the radiator support (shop did that when making me some custom piping to go with the slot style maf). However I will say that I think its current position may be blocking more of the radiator with the bottom end tank, something to consider.

Re: Procharger intercooler

This is no fun!

So I went with bolting the cooler straight onto the core support.

Problem is, the driver side IC piping sits far too lower surley!?

There is not much room above it from what I can.

Running out of ideas! Anyone else got any!?

Re: Procharger intercooler

looks ok to me, that rubber elbow just needs to be moved around. You have to put all the piping together and just tighten the clamps enough that pieces dont fall out of the couplers. That gives you the movement to twist and turn and things and move the piping around within the couples (youve usually got a few inches of play in each one). If you try to snug stuff up before everything is in place you'll just end up beating your head off the wall.

yeah...snug up the connectors till the touch. that will help move up the elbow.

Re: Procharger intercooler

Thanks guys,

I went again and managed this ...

Problem is the cooler pipe does touch the side of the car - so worried it would rub I put some extra hose between them.

Then the brake lines I cable tied out the way and then put inside another hose.

Do you think that would be OK? or a bad idea!?

Re: Procharger intercooler

you could probably gain a little space by not inserting the charge pipes so far into the couplers. Basically make sure that raised lip is in the coupler far enough that when you put the clamp on its completely on the rubber and behind that lip and its in far enough. I think that would get them off your brake lines just to be one the safe side
