Unhappy Passenger Seat Rub???

Is the TSB for the passenger seat backrest ONLY? In mine the actual seat part, (the lower part) is jammed up against the door. You can tell when trying to close the door as well. If not, how do I go about moving the Whole seat over a bit? Thanks!

I believe the TSB fix only moves the backrest away from the door. That's the one and only warranty fix I've had to have performed on this car, so I consider myself fortunate. Some members here moved their whole seat over by loosening all four mounting bolts and sliding the seat inward.

I did that and it solved the issue. It only took about 5 minutes to complete.

Good luck!

No MoreGT, Here is the do it yourself fix, worked for me, good luck.

There are 4 bolt/nuts holding the front seats to the floor (located at the four corners of the seat track). The two front bolts can easily be accessed by positioning the seat in the rear most point of adjustment. Next, move the seat into its forward most point of travel (the seat track spring will bring the all the way forward by releasing the seat slide lever). The two rear nuts can be accessed by positioning the seat in the forward most adjustment. These are a bit tricky to get to and are actually a stud bolt run into a slug in the floor, then the nut is added to attach the seat. Loosen all for fasteners; you don’t have to remove any of them. Apply pressure to the seat base, pushing it toward the center of vehicle and at the same time tighten the rear nuts, then the front bolts. If luck is on your side you will now have the smallest of gap between the door and seat.

Well, no such luck. I loosened the bolts and pushed it over, moved slightly by looking at the marks on the rail, but it is still smashed up against the door. Guess I am SOL unless I want to take out the whole seat and drill out slots in the holes on the rails???

Make sure you really loosen the nuts/bolts and give the seat a good shove over, at the rear of the seat, it may go further than you think and may be a bit stubborn to move initially. Mine moved a good 10mm from memory and did the trick.

Also make sure the seat doesn't move back toward the door panel before you secure it again to the floor, sorry if this sounds like basic stuff but you never know! good luck.

Has anyone had the door panel off? There is a hook inside that goes into the door which would make the panel bulge out if it was missed.
