How many of us are left?

I know that so many have changed their exhaust in one way or another. It has been over eight years since my wife and I bought the Mach and it still has the factory exhaust. I was jus wondering how many still have the stock exhaust and why you have kept it stock. For me it is because I love the sound , authorative under acceleration and no drone and can enjoy our music while cruising!

Mine isn't stock, but it does have all of the qualities you just mentioned.

Re: How many of us are left?

My exhaust was stock up until 4 days ago. Now I have a SLP Catted X-Pipe and LM1s. There's nothing more authoritative than shaking someone's windows after they rev their puny 4 cylinder.

Re: How many of us are left?

Still have stock exhaust and everything else on the car is stock as well. This car is exactly as it was when it left the dearlership and will stay that way as long as it belongs to me. As some would say, I'm just trying to preserve a piece of Mustang history.

Re: How many of us are left?

I kept the stock exhaust on mine for eight years (or until I traded it in). I loved the sound as you heard the the intake sound more than the exhaust sound. It was a good system other than in certain areas like over the axle when it necked down smaller as it wasn't mandrel bent.

I learned my lesson with loud exhaust in my younger days. I had a '70 with 428 SCJ-4V with a pair of glasspack mufflers in the mid-70's and one night when no one was around, I hammered it pretty good and smoked the tires thru first gear and well into second while entering a main road. I never really got over 55 or 60 mph as the limit was 50 and I left it in 2nd gear and coasted back down to about 45. About a mile up this deserted road at 0200 in the morning a set of blue lights came out of nowhere and pulled me over. The Police Officer proceeded to tell me that he didn't see me speeding but he heard me (LOL). After chewing my butt for about 10 minutes, he let go with a verbal warning. That was the last car I had with LOUD mufflers.

I still have the original exhaust, like the sound and have other things to spend the money on.

Re: How many of us are left?

I have the best of both worlds. One with stock exhaust and one with dumps/bullets that got three cops to my house the other night just backing it off the trailer. I wear earplugs when I drive it to work lol. Its flipping loud.

Re: How many of us are left?

Mine came with Flowmaster CB and I since added an O/R prochamber.

My GT was bone stock when I got it and I made sure to have a midpipe and mufflers installed within the first week of owning it. I can't imagine why anyone would want to keep 4v exhaust stock. That goes against everything that is holy.

Re: How many of us are left?

Funny you should ask that. I've still got a bone stock Mach, including the exhaust. I was at a local show earlier in the year and there were two other Mach 1s there, neither still stock. The one thing both owners wanted to do was hear a stock exhaust Mach 1. I thought it was odd at first, but hen I realized neither had ever heard one in factory spec. They seemed pleased and impressed that Ford would do something that sounded so good right out of the box.

Re: How many of us are left?

stock manifolds, stock H-pipe, but for obvious "buisness reasons" my cat back is not stock...

I did like the sound of the stock exhaust, and honestly i would have kept it that way if we had never developed the SSS brand...

When I purchased mine it had Flow Master Cat Back.....I got the original with the car though. If it was still on the car it still would be. I'd have no problem with having a Stock System
