Question VIN & Scheduled Production

Maybe this week we will get some info on production specifics and VIN numbers. Getting close to September when we should have our numbers.

Hey anybody, when did regular production start for the 03 year?
I thought I saw that it would be 8-7 at one time.

2003 V6 & GT production started the week of August 5th.

I am hoping to see a VIN# and build date around mid-September.

Man, I can't wait!!

69MACH 8/7 is correct for V6 & GT but has been 10/7 for the MACH right along.

Your dealer might not want you to cancel. Continue your order as consumer and he'll get that one before the ones he has comin'. Preview or easy sale?

While we've already received six 2003 Cobra's (all but one is sold and gone), we just got our first 2003 GT (redfire clearcoat) and first V6 Pony (sonic blue) two days ago (8/22/02). Took about two weeks to arrive after they were built (we're way up in the Pacific Northwest, though).

No VIN's or build dates yet on our Mach 1 orders as of today. It may be 3 or 4 weeks before we get that info.

Actually, we put the Redfire '03 Mustang GT next to the Redfire Pearl '03 Escape, and I just plain don't see a difference. In fact, I don't see any pearlescence in the Escape's paint at all - it's just a lot of metallic in the paint for both rigs. My girlfriend has been pondering when to buy an Escape for awhile, however, and she's now decided to get her Escape in Redfire Pearl with the Premium group (painted grey metallic lower trim). It looks better on the Escape than on the Mustang, IMO.

Back to VIN & build date info. Since Ford isn't pulling orders out of the order banks until 10/7, it's conceivable that we won't know any VIN's or build dates until 10/7, or shortly thereafter. Since I don't work for Ford, I'm not sure of their exact process. But, from the dealer end, when we've seen Material Holds in the past we didn't get VIN or build dates until the hold was lifted. This means that it's possible that some of the earliest Mach1's may be built before the VIN & build ETA is communicated to the dealerships. Maybe some of the other dealers on this site can confirm this for me?
