The RC Thread
Thought about calling this the "What Empty Nesters Who Are Married to Workaholics Do For Fun in Their Spare Time" thread. But that was a little too specific.
Maybe someone will post a Zip-Zap or New Rey RC Mach 1 video to make this Mach 1 related. Anything is welcome. In the Meantime... I mounted a FPV camera that is a birthday gift on one of my planes. Here are the initial videos. Note that the wind was up a little on the first one, which jostles the plane around a bit. Otherwise, I think the video would be smoother. _ |

Re: The RC Thread
Flying drones is actually a new 'sport'. Saw it on late night tv a few nights ago. Times are a changin'.
You need to drag that Mach 1 out of storage if you want something to keep you busy!

The FAA is also trying to legislate them (actually anything that flies remote control) out of existence. The burning hoops of bureaucracy the club board has to jump through just to keep the airfield by Grapevine Lake is astounding. (permits are required from the city, police, fire dept., FAA, DFW airport and Army Corp of Engineers) I really intended to get the Mach cleaned up and do a few small local cars shows back in the Spring. Then ended up doing volunteer stuff for the city police dept, among other things. And blinked and it is now September - almost October. ugh _ |

Re: The RC Thread
In the world of Corrections Drones are a big issue. Theyua re used to drop contraband and messages to inmates over the prison walls. Some places actually have a radar system for drones. Actaully have a drone they will send out after the drone and can immobilize it. Like neat spy type stuff, but not so neat when they are used to hurt others and conduct criminal activity while being locked up.
Only stating this as I see the issues with them when used for wrong doing. other than that they are pretty neat. On a personal note I come home from work one day to find one flying over my house watching me, this I don't like. I am sure if I paint balled that sucka out of the sky I'd be in trouble.

Re: The RC Thread
New flight video...
And I just got a new Eflite EC1500 cargo plane that has a camera mount built into the nose of the plane, so more to come. _ |

Re: The RC Thread
New flight video with the twin motor cargo plane.
The left prop shaft was bent on a wonky landing in a wicked cross-wind just enough to make the camera jiggle; but the weather lately has been too nice not to run a video. _ |
