Re: American Sniper
I hadn't been to the movie theater in a couple years at least, but made an exception to go see this movie. So very worth it.

Re: American Sniper
there are not a lot of "overlapping" events between the book and movie.
the book is worth reading and the movie is worth seeing. the one thing sticking out for me is what the movie portrayed as his longest shot was not his longest shot in real-life. |

Re: American Sniper
Saw it last week and it was really good, but I thought Lone Survivor was better.

Re: American Sniper
If he plays the video games they make now a days it should not be a problem. When we saw it a couple kids next to us were much younger than ten.

Re: American Sniper
I was invited by Asymmetric Solutions USA Instructors to attend a pre screening of the movie on Jan 12th.
Warner Brother had contacted ASUSA requesting that their instructors screen and critique the movie. I was honored to be invited. I thought the movie was very well done. It is not a typical combat movie. It focuses a great deal on the relationship between Kyle and Taya and how Chris was ultimately affected. Some might even consider it a combat "chick flick". The ending was predictable...but respectfully done. It was very apparent of the intent by all involved to honor Chris. I especially enjoyed seeing Kevin Lacz "Dauber" in the movie. Knowing that he was there with Chris and served as both actor and technical assistant made it more realistic in my eyes. Keep in mind too that I have not seen combat for 42+ years. A lot has changed. However there were some Hollywood Hokie liberties taken by Eastwood that were....questionable in my mind. The one that really stood out for me...was Chris calling Taya on a cell phone in the middle of a fire fight. I'm sorry.... I wasn't there...but I'll bet a $100 steak dinner...that did NOT happen. But these technical liberties did not distract from the message of the movie...and many would never notice. Kathy and I sat with Grady Powell who worked with Chris on the TV series "Stars Earn Stripes" where they became close friends. This is one of Grady's favorite pictures of them together : After the movie I asked Grady what he thought of it...and he said he thought it was well done. He appreciated the fact that they tried very hard to respect Chris' life and show the battles he fought at home as well. He said he was headed to Texas for the formal opening with Taya and family that took place Jan 14th. He later posted the following: While there was some artistic license and Hollywood moments likely inserted to elicit emotion from an non-military audience, the portrayal adequately captured the humble and caring person that Chris was and the struggles and sacrifices of those who are not visibly injured from their time in theater. When the film is released we recommend you see it. Grady later forwarded this picture taken of himself at SHOT Show with Taya and Marc Lee's mother: Kerry |

Re: American Sniper
Awesome movie. Its sad there are people in Washington who are so full of themselves and are worthless. Then we have people like Chris who risk their life every time they stepped into combat. Our soldiers do not get enough credit, respect or compensation for what they do. Truly the american heros.
The best movie since Act of Valor. You got to admit the 50 Cal on the attack boat in A of V was an awesome shot. I also cried at the end. God love and bless our military.
