Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

First dyno session N/A today with Jeff Chambers of CRT Performance. N/A it made 424.8 rwhp @ 7099 rpms/347.3 rwt @ 5208 rpms on full street exhaust @ 27 degrees initial timing. This is also on AR 93 autolight plugs for a big shot of nitrous and keeping the Air/Fuel on the fat side of 12.6 -12.4 because of the nitrous build.

I am very sure we will pull more hp N/A on the next session learning this setup and changing timimg and exhaust. Plus the stainless top gapless rings need more time to seal.. Ironically, the less initial timing, the more power it made..!!

On the last run, one of the alternator crossover tube bolt head snaped/popped off at WOT..??? The clunking you will hear when shifting, is the faceplated TKO trans.

Thanks Craig! On the juice it will scream! Jeff also found a bad chain tensioner (passenger side) the other day. Both tensioners have been replaced with 96-98 Cobra tensioners prior to the runs.

Hey why 96-98 tensioners? Mine are worn also and I'm replacing all the chains and stuff are those years best?

The housing is made of cast steel instead of aluminum.

The ball check valve stopped working and you can push the plunger in with your finger. Normally, it requires a clamp/vise to compress the plunger. Part# F6AZ-6L266-CA (Left) & F6AZ-6L266-DA (Right)

What fun is that, no changing jets and getting fuel all over everything, this is getting to easy.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

I've had one experience with a Pro Systems carb and it was one jest size away from being dead on. Without annular booster it still made more than with the FR500 intake adn fuel injection.

The side scoops are here to stay!!! Yes, the pro systems carb was used, but we ran into problems with the belt wanting to walk off the pulley's.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

We were able to test the nitrous system, about 60 rwhp shot. However, we ran into problems with loosing power after the initial shot. Almost like the nitrous psi drops drastically. Possible flow restriction in the nitrous side?? Always something!! I ordered more jets and a nice fuel flow gauge to test/set the jets at a true 6 psi at the plate fuel jet.

The new drag exhaust sounds awesome, but will hurt power on the street vs the custom street exhaust. Chris at CRT Performance did an excellent job fabricating/tig welding my exhaust systems.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

Installed the street exhaust and took the Mach out to an area that is a shut down small industrial parkway. Raised the rev limiter and shifted 1st & 2nd at 8000 N/A. Shifting at those rpms is smooth & quick with no effort N/A. This motor revs so fast in 1st it's scary. Even with the 28" MT street radials at 30 psi, it lifts the front hard and keeps it there.

Hoping to hit the track soon!

Gentlemen, I had a grin on my face that wraped around my head like a twisty tie!!! I can't wait for the big shots of nitrous!
I also purchased a complete NOS nitrous refill station with full mother bottle. Picking it up this weekend.
