Re: New Project "R" thread
Waiting for "funky headers" to arrive so I can do a test fit.
FEAD is about done, just have to get the correct belt length. I have found some info I acquired was incorrect. 2003 and 04 Navi motors DO NOT have 03-04 Mach/Cobra heads, they have Navi heads. (Huge intake ports, Mach sized exhaust) 2004 Navi has a 6 rib belt, not 8. Lots of stuff between Mach and Navi is the same, as well as 4.6 to 5.4. I will make a list when I get a bit closer. I think the motor is WAY too tall to fit a shaker system under the stock Mach hood. Does anyone want to get a 5.4 32V motor for a 99 and up Mustang? I can do 2 just as easily as one. It ain't cheap, but I can configure it as a drop-in, wiring and all.

Re: New Project "R" thread
Yeah, the Master cylinder is there. (New)
Have to test fit EVERYTHING. Still waiting for "funky headers" from Au. Should be here next week. Then it's drop it in time!! Thanks. Sometimes I go in the garage for an hour or 2 and brainstorm. Edit: I just realized the T56 is still in the crate. No pics.

Re: New Project "R" thread
It's interesting that the intake opens to the driver's side. Must be its Aussie nature.

With the cars there being Right hand drive, that must be the norm. Got the FEAD done with a Genuine Ford/Motorcraft Belt!! Also, got the fuel rail done. The crate motor came with a Navi Fuel rail, but it's all wrong for a Mustang. Got a new Mach fuel rail, but the gray fuel crossover is too short for a 5.4. Took the gray crossover hose from the Navi rail, cut it off, installed it on the Mach rail, and VOILA! Shaped it a little with a heat gun.

Re: New Project "R" thread
I have a modified Mach 1 H pipe (cats cut off) and decided to try
and bolt it to stock Mach/NA 99-01 Cobra exhaust manifolds. Slight width difference as seen here: (due to the wider 5.4) ......but with VERY slight persuasion, it goes right on as seen here: Moving right along!

Test fit, first try.
Tried to fit the motor in.
It's tight but it dropped right in. Navi pan hits the crossmember, preventing the motor sitting right. I did not install the trans yet. Here are some pics.

Re: New Project "R" thread
I have some (sort of) midlength headers coming.
Longer than shorties, but shorter than Bassani mids. First test fit above was done with N/A Cobra/Mach manifolds installed, and they fit fine. I am doing it this way so others might consider a 5.4 on a reasonable budget, with many Mach/NA Cobra parts re-used. I have not yet installed the steering coupler shaft.

Re: New Project "R" thread
Nice...
Looks like you will need some type of torque arm on the motor to keep it from banging the fender wells.

It should be ok. (I hope)
I am using stock GT/Mach engine mounts.

I guess that is why the Cobra R had to have its motor put lower in the car. Looks better and better

Re: New Project "R" thread
Thanks!
More work tomorrow. Should be able to shim the crossmember to gain clearance, check steering coupler shaft, and then take some measurements. Then a "certain fabricator" is going to assist in making it all work. The motor will be in and out several times I am sure. Need to write detailed instructions for later............... BTW: I changed course on a certain part of the project. It MIGHT allow a functional shaker to be fitted to this setup. Stay tuned.
