Explorer

I got an Explorer 8.8 rearend with 31 splines and 4.10 gears in it. I was wondering if i can just pull the mach rearend and put the explores rearend in it. or would it be easier to pull the guts out of them and swap them that way?

Re: Explorer

I think you'd have to cut off your old brackets and weld them to the new rear...probably a bigger hassle than its worth.

You also need to check out the length of the axles...they may be to short or to long.

At worst the most you can use are the gears and diff...

Edit: Got a pic of the exploder rear?

Re: Explorer

Pull the guts and swap 'em into your axle. Axle lengths are different, brake mounts are different, the Explorer axle uses leaf springs, the Mach has coils, so those mounts are different....etc. The list of differences to the housing is quite long.

The internals will work but you will need to buy new axles for your mach. I am currently running an explorer carrier and have moser axles 31 spline. As far as direct swap. No way in H E double hockey sticks is it going to work.
