Swaping the 03 4.6 Mach motor with the new 5.0 Modular

Has anyone done this swap? I was wondering as my motor past the 100k mark
and I'd like to upgrade when I replace it?

Not a Mach...but all the same stuff would have to be done:

It's not a direct swap and you'll need to rig a lot of stuff to work with the new electronics, the swap from cable throttle to drive by wire, relocation of the power steering pump, and simply getting it to fit.

I wouldn't waste your money on the swap a terminator swap would be cheaper and fit better and be able to make more power with a simple pulley and tune.

Re: Swaping the 03 4.6 Mach motor with the new 5.0 Modular

Agreed. I would stick with something that doesn't require alot of other tweaks like the 5.0 would.

S&R was trying to get me to consider the swap but now that the Bullit is done even they agree it would be much easier to just to build a 4.6. The 5.0 can be done, it just isn't a simple drop and go thing, though.

So your both saying it's more efficent to pull the original motor and swap with the terminator or aluminator motor? Make sense..Have any of you done this..What are the best sources parts and price-wise?

Re: Swaping the 03 4.6 Mach motor with the new 5.0 Modular

I was hoping to do a new 5.0 swap in my mach when my motor goes too. This makes it seem like its a wast of money and I should just do a rebuild if i have to.

Going 5.0 is doable...just extra work and stuff to think about.

Putting an aluminator or other 4.6 in the car will be much easier since most of the existing stuff will be compatible with the motor.

I also agree that going with a built 4.6 dohc would be easier then the coyote. Less expensive total, and with the extra money you could add boost to a 4.6, have a built engine, and make more power.
