You tell me...Gt350 or Power adder for Mach 1????
Well, I finally at the cross roads. I can afford a 2016 or 2017 Gt350 or 2014 Gt500......or I can dump the money into my 2004 MACh1.
I'm looking to add a turbo or supercharger. I have have a high compression ratio 11 to 1 with flat top forged pistons. Rest of engine is forged. My friend said I could go water methanol injection and keep pistons and go with whatever power adder. Obviously I would need a new transmisson and rear end depending on power levels. What do you think??

I would say find a way to drive either of the others before making a decision. They are not the Mach 1, and the Mach 1 is not them.

If you’re keeping the Mach and getting another addition I think I’d go with the Trinity.

I would agree. I will be attempting to test drive both before my making decision.

For raw power I think you'd be very surprised how fast the Mach 1 is with a turbo. Meth injection or E85 would work to keep those pistons happy. So if you still love the Mach 1 this is certainly an option.
For me, I'd lean towards the GT350 and leave it stock.

From what I hear, GT350s are getting very affordable now that the bone stock 2018 GT is beating it at the track and the GT500 is coming back next year. I'd try to pick one of those up for a steal.

Yea, I'm torn. I've always wanted a Shelby, just not sure which one yet. I also emailed a performance shop to start quoting out upgrades for the MACh because I may just go that route. I think adding the upgrades to the mach will be cheaper in the long road and I'll get the power I've been missing

Personally, the new Bullitt has my money if I had to pick a brand new Mustang. Now if it had the GT350 power train with DI, I wouldn’t even look at anything else.

If I had enough money to buy a GT350, I'd drop what I was doing and go snatch up a lightning blue one lol.

Re: You tell me...Gt350 or Power adder for Mach 1????
ya I've seen some serious oil consumption issues and Im not even looking around for that kinda info.
I've also heard quite a few say the car isnt that exciting around town because all the power is higher in the rev range than you would normally use. I will say to some degree I feel like I made a mistake dumping money into the mach, a new GT will make the same power as my full on build with nothing but a blower and oil pump gears...I mean, mine has higher power potential but still, these new cars are bad ***

The new stangs (18+) have my attention as of yesterday morning. Saw a new grey GT in the parking lot at work and i must say the nose and lines down the side are beautiful. Pics dont do the car any justice. If i can pick up a leftover '19 next year i may do it. Looks like leftover 18s are below 30k (poor boy versions, not ac/heat seats etc) so maybe the 19s will be too. My honda is a fantastic little car and does everything right, but im feeling the need for something bigger and safer than something built in 05 and weighs only 2600 pounds.

Re: You tell me...Gt350 or Power adder for Mach 1????
I spoke with a performance guy in town and I will be keeping the Mach and adding a turbo along with intercooler and new clutch. Possible an e-85 setup too. I need to go thru the options. Putting a hefty down payment on a Shelby is more expensive, will be cheaper to upgrade the Mach.
Plus the Mach always gets good looks and no one will suspect the upgraded power. Another question: will the 18x9s AFS wheels fit the Mach up front and what size tire should go with. I have the stock 17x8 now with stock size tire and rear 17x10.5s with 315s. I really like the 315s out back but need to fill up the wheel well a bit.

Are you going with a built engine? Even a mild tune with that seems like it would be too much for the stock internals. What’s the power goals?
Edit: disregard this post. I reread your first post. Pick your poison. |

Re: You tell me...Gt350 or Power adder for Mach 1????
I forged my engine. So I should be good. I will be going for a safe tune etc, with I'm guessing a single turbo and intercooler and e85. Still waiting to hear back from performance guy. He has added over 900 to a 2004 cobra in my area with almost same engine setup as my engine. I'll see what my options are. I'll upgrade transmission and rear end eventually. But dont plan on drag stripping it yet. Just gonna be a fun in street and maybe half mile kinda of thing.
