Which car insurance agency to go with?

I am currently with Liberty Mutual. They have been good to me, even tho I have not needed them at all. I am a GOOD driver LOL!!!! Anyways, I'm shopping around for lower rates, do any of you have any good companies to suggest for a quote? I have gotten a quote from 21st Century Insurance so far. I did a BBB check on some of the well-known ones and WILL NEVER go back to Geico!!!!! Suggestions?????

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

I use Geico for my daily drivers, and love them.

I use Grundy for my Cobra.....$316 a year.....and BETTER coverage then what I had when I had a premium Geico policy. I insure my car for $25,000 as well. $316 a year.

But you have to prove that you have another vehicle and dont rely on it for daily trans.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

I am with Hartford. I was with American Family for 34 years. Saved 600.00 a year by switching on 3 cars. Clean record, never filed a claim with AmFam, car or home. Long story on why i switched. I've been very happy with Hartford.

I switched from USAA to Grundy on my Mach. I have no tickets or accidents and I was paying $960 on the Mach every year with USAA. I am now paying Grundy $355 a year with zero deductible and $23K agreed value... I left my DD and the wifes car with USAA though.

I would switch if you can.... They do have some requirements that you will have to meet, but nothing extreme.

Have you made any claims using Grundy? I just did an online quote and it came back $314/year for my Mach. Sounds good if their insurance is good since I only put 800 miles on it last year!

Nope. No claims.

I actually just made a claim with Geico on June 06 ,2008....and I was assured my policy premium would not go up.

And it was a big claim.

I guess I am lucky. $180 month for full coverage on 2004 SVT Focus, 2005 Kia Sorento, and $316 yr for my 98 Cobra.

Just received some docs from Grundy and it states no racing or timed event participation is permited. Not that it's any different from any other insurance I've ever had!

Ive had very good luck with them ..free rental .. same day estimate and quotes ...repairs on cars are backed 100% as long as you own the car.I too had one big claim, truck totaled and rates were not increased at all.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

My quote from Geico was over 200 more than what I'm paying for a 6 month premium with Liberty Mutual. That's ridiculous. I have a perfect driving record, no accidents nor any tickets....stupid.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

Read the fine print CAREFULLY with collector car insurance. You may not be as covered as you think. We were going to put collector car insurance on our '66, but if we happen to drive it to the store or to my daughter's school (among other places), it wouldn't be covered if it was damaged. Instead we went with a more traditional policy and worked with our agent to get the correct coverage.

I LEFT Geico because they were charging me too much. Plus I just didn't feel like I was getting good customer service when I wanted to change things.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

I've got farmers insurance... but i pay waaaayyy too much, 250.00 a month. havent had a ticket in 4 years. I'm 23... i've called every insurance company known to man and this is the cheapest insurance i can find.

can somebody tell me whats wrong with this picture? i would love to know why someone younger than me with tickets living in the same area with a cobra, is paying 100 bucks less a month than me. i called usaa for them to explain this BS to me and they couldnt, heck if i went with usaa my policy would cost me 360 a month.....

You get discounts for 1+yr of being with them (no tickets or claims), plus by having more than one vehicle insured thru same company helped. Lot's of variables.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

Most collector car insurance states in the small print that the car must be in the garage at all times while it's on your own property. Took one month to get switched over to Grundy, then they tried to double bill me. I switched from Grundy back to State Farm. So I went back to State Farm. State Farm agent says that every time they compare to Hagerty it's only a couple of dollars difference.

Not a problem, these stay in the garage at all times.

EDIT 12/28/17
Long story short; Grundy for some reason gave me a major run around insuring our Mach 1 and I went back to Haggerty, they have both of our collector cars now, much nicer and easier to deal with, IMHO.

Only thing I don’t like about Hagerty is they don’t give the option to buy your car back if something happens. So I might go with Grundy once the cars come out of storage.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

We've had multiple dealings with state farm. Lost 3 trucks in a shop fire, and were dealt fairly on that. One was a salvage title, so I got nothing ($17k 96 powerstroke),a 94 bronco (worth about $12k) that I got 6k for, before the deductible, and a 04 6.0 Superduty. Total loss on the shop, with a max payout of around $400k for the building, contents, and vehicles. Also had an atv, two tractors, and a JD gator in there.

My mach was also insured through state farm. It was totalled a few weeks ago, and the offending party had farm bureau. I've had their 8000 dollar check for not quite a week now, and I kept the car.
