Well, my 2003 Mach was the greatest Mustang I ever had .... until I got my 2011 Shelby GT-500. Now I own the greatest Mustang Ford ever built. I really loved my Mach I and I've been driving Mustangs since 1970. But if you can afford a 2011 GT-500 it is the way to go. I can't imagine Ford being able to build a better overall Mustang in the future.

If I could afford a new GT500 I would go for one no doubt. They are awesome cars. If I could, I would have one of each. I love my Mach and it would be tough to sell her. I wouldn't trade my Mach in for a GT500. GL

The 03/04 Mach 1 is a stand alone car. Everything else is just another mustang. No and I could write a check for a new mustang tomorrow if I wanted too.

If I didn't mind the payment, in a heartbeat. The Mach is a nice unique car but is by no means the end all of cars. Other than the shaker I can't think of one area that the GT500 isn't better than the Mach.

I can...just take a look at the back of the 2010-2011. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but they need to do something better back there.

I wasn't a fan of the back of the 99's when they made the change. But as the back of the new ones is doing it grew on me.

I'm really not a fan of all the black plastic around the bottom of the new stangs. Looks cheap IMO.

I'd rather wait to see what they come out with in a few years that's not a Shelby, and if that's still most bad ***, then I'd get one used with low miles at a great price.

Re: Would you trade your 04 mach 1 for 2011 Shelby gt500?

I wouldnt mind having a new 500 or cobra but ide rather keep my "outdated" mach lol. One qoute i like that jeremy clarkson said in the film love the beast,
"The Uncertainty of machinery..when something wont handle properly, its a human quality because it makes mistakes which is how you can build a relationship out of a car". I'm planning to keep mine for as long as possible.

Re: Would you trade your 04 mach 1 for 2011 Shelby gt500?

If they took it as an even swap, then sure.

The Shelby is certainly "more" car than a Mach 1, but at a pretty steep price.

If you can afford it and want one, go for it. I just think that this type of comparison shows what a great value a Mach 1 is. The Shelby will cost you significantly more, but won't command much more attention (if that) visually.

I sure wouldn't mind owning a Shelby, but the price difference makes me very happy to be driving my attention grabbing Mach 1.

Re: Would you trade your 04 mach 1 for 2011 Shelby gt500?

I traded mine for a vette so I guess that would be a hell yes on the 2011 GT500, but I don't want the payments associated with one.
