Help! Need machine shop in Texas which uses 4.6 torque plates
I am looking to build my 2003 mach 1 4.6 4v engine (8 bolt manual trans). I have been looking into this for some time. Looking to put in forged internals. But as I have read about, the machining is very picky on these modular engines and so finding a machine shop you can trust with them seems very hard.
It requires ideally 2 aluminum torque plates to bore it 20 over and hone it. And other picky steps. Can someone point me to a really well known machine shop for the 4.6 in Texas. I am around Austin, but will drive for the right shop. Also this is a budget build, not an "all in". Engine has 85K on it and sadly needs a rebuild (compression and valve seals). So while going through it I am planning to pick up forged rods and pistons. Thanks. |

Re: Help! Need machine shop in Texas which uses 4.6 torque plates
Back in the late 2000's, Lethal Performance in San Antonio put a transmission in one of my old mustangs. They did good work. They've also done stuff for other registry members with modified mach 1s. They're not a machine shop but I'm sure they've got one they use. Maybe they'd share that information with you.
