Please Help! Car shuts off when coming to a stop.
Hello every one I am in need of some help. When i warm up my car in the mornings she turns on just fine idles, however once it warms up the RPMS get really low and the car shuts off. The stereo and all the lights on the dash stay on. I turn the key and starts right back up. When I step on the break to make a stop the RPMS drop and the car shuts off. My car is an automatic so to keep it from turning off I put it in neutral and have to rev the engine to keep it from shutting off and even then one slip up and the RPMS drop so low that it shuts off. Any ideas? Vacuum leak? Bad IAC? Any advise would be great thanks!

She has a C&L Ram air intake and a MMR intake spacer. I have had these mods on for a couple years now and never had these issues. It also has no tune.

Usually this stalling problem is associated with a missing, or wrongly clocked MAF screen. If you've had no issues with your ram air for years, I would look at the IAC, or maybe even just fresh plugs.

How should the MAF be placed? I have the plug on top! Would a miss cause a check engine light?

Re: Please Help! Car shuts off when coming to a stop.
The MAF and MAF Screen should be clocked at a straight up location. You should also clean the MAF Sensor.

Thank you so much for the advise! I will clean the MAF tomorrow and make sure it's clocked correct. I will also check the plugs and IAC valve.

Re: Please Help! Car shuts off when coming to a stop.
A common cause of an auto car stalling at low rpm with a load is a clogged air filter. Inspect it to see if it is clogged. Another possible cause is the fuel filter being clogged or the fuel pump going week.

make sure you get MAF sensor cleaner, other electrical cleaners can leave a protective residue but that will mess up the MAF reading.
seeing how the car seems to run fine at everything but a warm idle I would suspect the IAC valve

It's IAC 90% sure. I just had the same problem, also, check for any vacuum leaks with you CAI.

I suspect the IAC. Its a simple task to try. Remove and clean. I was surprised how dirty mine was but after a, starter fluid cleaning, it ran like new. Mine had 95,000 miles on it.

Re: Please Help! Car shuts off when coming to a stop.
If you try all these and you still have the stalling issue, look at changing your O2 sensors...at least the upstream ones. I tried all the standard things in the above list and still had the stalling problems. I connected an OBD2 scanner tool and through data logging found I had a lazy O2 sensor that was throwing my fuel trims all off. Swapped in new OEM replacement O2's 2 years ago and no more stalling.
