Those prices are outrageous. Go to your local auto store and get part number 4177. Shouldn't be more than $16.00 and no shipping.

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

I am installing TR6 plugs today in preparation for my procharger, possibly next week. I did search about them and it looks like the best gap is .044. I will drive the car some before it goes into the shop.

I think this topic has been discussed plenty. I will record my experiences here.

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

you know we should just make this a sticky since this is basic the plug to use on a p/a or n/a. its a good plug to use and just make it a sticky

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

If you gap them a .044 you will have ignition break up. .032 is definitely the best answer for FI.
As for it being the best plug... not sure that is really true. Think about the n/a guys that only want to change their plugs every 100,000 miles... they need to go platinum. More of a stock replacement part.
Not everyone out there is like us gearheads that don't mind changing plugs every other oil change

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

It's hell being old. I pulled the old and replaced them with TR6 gapped at .042 the plugs I pulled out were TR6 gapped at .035.

So I guess I need to pull them and regap them before it goes in for the Procharger.

I should have come in from the garage and looked at your responses - doH

funny thing - I don't remember putting TR6s in. I thought I was still running thr TR55IX.

why is every other post from you bolded? and why do you keep asking to make this thread a sticky? So far not a whole lot of information has even been exchanged in this thread.

Come on man, dude wants his own sticky... leave him be.

Here is some more info to make this thread valuable:
Spark Plug Torque = 11 lb-ft
Coil Cover Torque = 89 lb-in (Thats INCH pounds folks, about 7 lb-ft)

LOL

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

i like to almost put all mine in bold, don't see the problem with it. also i think with this being something that gets brought up a lot should be a sticky instead of someone having to start a new thread bout it. i really don't see the problem with it being a sticky. also i'm more an likly going to respone on a thread i started.

the bold writting isn't going away.

Actually it's quite annoying reading all your posts in bold. And there is no need for this to be a sticky as this is just one of many plugs guys use. I run the NGK BR7EF # 3346. They're better for higher boosted cars but again not everyone will use them.

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

its kinda like a writting style and i like it bold and there isn't anything in the fourms that says i can't write in bold. sorry if it bothers you or any one else. sometimes i use it and sometimes i don't. also i'm going to laugh the nest time someone ask bout plugs and someone says use the search part. also i understand you run a higher boost so you need the better plug. i got that

i really don't care if it makes sticky or not, i just though it would be a really nice help when someone else has this question and its right there for them. i don't need to ever look back at this thread cuz i know what plug to use, i was just tryin to be helpful to others.

Re: NGK TR6 spark plug question "which one"

Use the iridium plug. TR6ix

A lot of people(myself included) have found the copper TR6 will cause low speed bucking or a surge feeling. The iridium seems to burn better and drives a lot nicer.

You can run a slighly wider gap with iridiums also, but like people have said try that 0.032-0.034 gap.

How often do the TR6 Iridiums need to be replaced on a blower car?

I go well over 10,000kms on a set(usually a summer of driving for me). I run torco quite a bit so I change them more frequent due to that, without the torco I would go even longer. With my ported eaton setup I had my old TR6ix plugs in for over 30,000kms and they were still running strong. I have TR7ix plugs now with the 3.4

They are worth the added cost to me as I DD the car during the summer and I couldn't stand that buck/surge tendency going through school zone or playground zones in 2nd gear at a low rpm.
