Which car insurance agency to go with?

I am currently with Liberty Mutual. They have been good to me, even tho I have not needed them at all. I am a GOOD driver LOL!!!! Anyways, I'm shopping around for lower rates, do any of you have any good companies to suggest for a quote? I have gotten a quote from 21st Century Insurance so far. I did a BBB check on some of the well-known ones and WILL NEVER go back to Geico!!!!! Suggestions?????

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

I use Geico for my daily drivers, and love them.

I use Grundy for my Cobra.....$316 a year.....and BETTER coverage then what I had when I had a premium Geico policy. I insure my car for $25,000 as well. $316 a year.

But you have to prove that you have another vehicle and dont rely on it for daily trans.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

I am with Hartford. I was with American Family for 34 years. Saved 600.00 a year by switching on 3 cars. Clean record, never filed a claim with AmFam, car or home. Long story on why i switched. I've been very happy with Hartford.

I switched from USAA to Grundy on my Mach. I have no tickets or accidents and I was paying $960 on the Mach every year with USAA. I am now paying Grundy $355 a year with zero deductible and $23K agreed value... I left my DD and the wifes car with USAA though.

I would switch if you can.... They do have some requirements that you will have to meet, but nothing extreme.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

I've been with State Farm ever since I was 16 and on my parents policy. I'm 34 now and I haven't had a single problem with them. Heck, I still have the same agent from when my ex and I moved to Austin in 1998 and I haven't lived there since 2001. I've seen no need to change agents since my current one treats me so well!!! I just handle everything via email, phone, snail mail and fax. I currently pay $110 a month for my Mach 1 (full coverage: $50k/$100k/$25k), a 1993 Ford Ranger(liability only) and renter's insurance. Sure, I could probably find someone a little cheaper, but if the need ever arises for them to pay out, will they give me any problems? To this day State Farm hasn't and that's why I've stayed with them so many years.

Hmm, I just re-read this thread and i'm thinking maybe I need to check out this Grundy insurance. My Mach 1 only gets used on my days off from work, so it might be worth it for me to check it out.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

Another vote for State Farm. I've been with them since 1980 and have had very good service from them (although service can vary by agent).

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

Dang, I put value worth $20,000 on my mach, modified with the mileage she has at 18,500 and got a quote of $310 a year, that's pretty darn good. So with this insurance, is it like a regular insurance to where you can make claims etc if something happens, or is it only for part time use?

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

The thing I don't like about that collector car insurance is that you can't drive it whenever you want. I drive mine to work, run errands, last year I did a 4,000 mile roadtrip. I don't like someone telling me when I can and can't drive it.

Re: Which car insurance agency to go with?

Read the fine print CAREFULLY with collector car insurance. You may not be as covered as you think. We were going to put collector car insurance on our '66, but if we happen to drive it to the store or to my daughter's school (among other places), it wouldn't be covered if it was damaged. Instead we went with a more traditional policy and worked with our agent to get the correct coverage.
