wheel is stuck on vehicle

Went to go change the splash guard and while removing my front passenger rim, got 4 out of 5 lug nuts off and the 5th one just spins attached to the wheel stud and I cannot get it off. I was trying to go from the back of the wheel but cannot get to it, cant pull the rim off. The only thing Im trying to do is drill through the lug nut and through the stud and Im about half way there. This happen to anyone else out there?

Re: wheel is stuck on vehicle

Has happened to me.

I used an impact, and put side pressure on the nut....and was able to get it off without drilling/cutting etc.

Re: wheel is stuck on vehicle

Whenever we came across this type of problem we would make a slot in the bolt end deep enough to stick a thick flathead driver in, then stick a wrench on the screwdriver for leverage and unscrew the bolt.

Main reason I would run across this as a 7 level in the Air Force was because some airman using an impact wrench to put the lugnut on then 6 months later when it has to come off again the next airman has to deal with the issue... sucks.
