Swirl marks in the vinyl?

Anyone else have scratches/swirl marks in the vinyl stripe on the hood? You can only see them with the sun right on it, but it still bothers me. Any idea how to get them out?

I really don't think there is a fix for swirls/scratches in the stripes. Need new ones or remove and have them painted on.

What he said. Live with them or replace/repaint it.

Re: Swirl marks in the vinyl?

Griot's Garage sells a Vinyl and Rubber dressing that will cover most light scatches and swirls in the vinyl. I have used it for quite a while on my hood and it really looks nice after application. After a couple of car washings the dressing will begin to fade and you will need to reapply just as you do tire dressings and other vinyl/rubber parts.

Yup, this is how I remedied the minor swirls and scratches in mine. Simple and works like a charm. It's actually the same stuff that I applied to my shaker to make it look new again. "Stoners" trim shine. Also works awesome as a complete under hood/engine dressing. I buy it by the case.

Re: Swirl marks in the vinyl?

The mentioned products are temporary, treat your mach 1 to a new set of vinyl man.

Re: Swirl marks in the vinyl?

don't do vinyl. they suck. take to a shop and have it painted on. much easier to take care of.

Re: Swirl marks in the vinyl?

I went over the stripe as well as the rear wing with my rotary using a light polishing pad with some non abrasive polish. Have to keep the heat down, but the scratches and water spots come right out. I'm sure similar results could be achieved with an orbital or DAP.
