More Precision 7675 oil issues

Had an issue with my 7675 letting oil past the seals causing my car to consume oil like it was free. At cold start I would see roughly 80PSI of oil pressure, and by the time the oil was to temp it would be down to 30psi. Precision was fine with this and said that no restriction was needed.

$350 later for a fresh rebuild and its blowing oil past the seals 200 miles later. Am I in crazy town or is this no restrictor stuff a load of ****? Feed line is a -4 and the return line is a -10 with a 45* to the pan.

I should add that its journal and not ball bearing.

Re: More Precision 7675 oil issues

I've read several people use a restrictor. I'm using one as well but don't remember what size. I'm running a precision 76 as well.

I'm about ready to say F it and run one against their suggestions. They wanted me to send it back to them, and with it costing $100 to do plus their time? No thanks.

machgsxr, if you could let me know what you're running that would be awesome.

Journal bearing turbos dont require a restrictor your problem is likely high crankcase pressure what type of catch can/breather set up you running? Type and viscosity of oil matters too. My buddies twin turbo camaro was just having this problem with too thick of oil and his catch can was not letting crankcase pressure out thus pushing oil past the turbo seals.

Typically, you're right on the restrictor part. However, Precision insists on not restricting their turbos.

Crank case is simply vented, couple of small valve cover breathers from the ricer section at Auto Zone.

Running 5-40w oil.

subscribing as I have the same turbo; currently do not have a restrictor but only had about 100 miles on the turbo. Feed line is also -4an and return is -10an.

This link might be helpful.

I bought one off eBay several years ago so I couldn't tell you. Also check into your drain line being an issue. I had oil leaking by after getting the turbo fixed for something else and my drain wasn't optimal. I corrected it and haven't noticed an issue yet, but I only got about 60 miles on it now.
