Question Engine Cut out then died

I got on my car a little and then it started sputtering and died like it ran out of gas. The car started right back up and drove fine but scared me that something really bad was wrong with the car. Any thoughts?

Re: Engine Cut out then died

Mine did something very similar before it blew. Hope yours is OK. I am sure it is not the same issue, mine was a bent valve. Anyway, good luck with your car.

Re: Engine Cut out then died

I checked for error codes and there was none. It did puff a little smoke the next time I started it. Should a do a compression check?

Re: Engine Cut out then died

it did use about 1/2 quart of oil and that has never happened before. I reloaded my tune and everything seems ok and it is not smoking during start up. This still has me very concerned since it did use a little oil. Do you think I should just change it now?

An oil change never hurts. What you need to do is make sure its full of oil before you go to bed. Try to remember where its at on the dip stick, let the car sit overnight. The next morning go out, look under the car, see if theres any leaks, then check the oil. Thatll tell you if its got an oil leak. You can do the same sort of thing with coolant as well. If you got time, start it up, let it run for a little bit, let it get warmed up. Check under the car see if anything happens, listen for anything unusual or weird. Turn it off, let it sit, check oil again and under the car to see if anything leaked. Sometimes if you do have a leak it wont do it until after the car is warm and has been turned off. (Dont check coolant while car is on or when its warm! You probably know that but just incase someone else doesnt lol)

I think you should be ok, especially since nothings happend since. It was probably just a fluke. Shiit happens lol

Re: Engine Cut out then died

It was a little cold on the way in this morning but nice on the way home. it was about 68 today. Here is a photo of my boy on my bike. I changed out the windshield for a little larger one which is much nicer when riding without a helmet.
