Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
163...yeah, I think that's fast enough for a Mach. I had my '99 GT to 147 in 5th, still had a little left in her, stock suspension though....car felt REAL light so I backed off. I was just curious how much faster the Mach would be. Mine isn't stock anymore so, I guess that whole 154 thing is out the window :P

I will second this comment. I have noticed the front end gets very "darty" around 130. Feels very light up front, and every little ridge in the road sends the car moving around.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
My 97 cobra felt light in the front above 140. I really noticed it at 152MPH, but even then you could still change lanes. The Mach is lower in the front and should be just as good or better, so I don't see why 130 would feel light, unless it's because of the softer suspension. I did 135 in my Mach and it still felt great at that speed.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
I have had mine up to 150 but let off due to available road. The car pulls like hell up to 140, I can't believe how quickly it reaches that speed. My buddy has a 2001 GT and it bogged out from 130 and didn't pull hard after that. As far as feeling light, the car felt good that fast. Of course it was loud but I wasn't freaked out or anything. I will be getting some mods done soon and will be looking for 160+. We'll see what happens. Oh yeah, this was done on a long, straight, and deserted road.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
I've been up to maybe 110 - I have not had a long enough stretch of open road to go much faster. I get more of a bang out of the first 100 anyway - after that everything becomes a potential license losing (and lock up) exercise on public roads.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
I've hit 150. mtsumedi, I agree; the car pulls like crazy to 140. For 150, have a lot of road and hope you have just as much road to slow down. I had the windows up to get 150 and the car didn't feel too bad. Oh, I stayed in 4th gear too. Didn't look at the tach and just a glance at the speedo when I thought I was getting close.
I'm not advocating that kind of speed, by the way. Just relaying an experience is all. Those speeds are very dangerous.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
Ive taken my mach up to 150-152 somewhere around there and it feels alittle light but not to bad. 130 feels like going 55-60 not really any differant. I like it. I like it a lot. doesnt take a whole lot of effort to get it there either. Have a buddy with a turbo 12 psi eclipse and thought he was fast and my factory mach kept up though whole time then right through him and couldnt catch up. till I let off at 150. funny little story. oh yeah from rolling start and hime for the most part in front of me.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
So you toasted his eclipse or not? I have a buddy with a supposedly tricked out talon and he says he could smoke me cause he is all wheel drive and will get a lead early and I will never catch back up. I call bs i have seen him take off and it is not that impressive.

Re: Stock Mach 1 Top-Speed??
Hey fiveliter, were you in fourth or fifth gear in that photo? Oh and has anyone looked into air diffusers? That would help keep ur car hunkered down at high speeds. Of course they wouldnt be worth getting unless you spend alot of time at those speeds lol. I currently have a 97 mustang conv v6 auto until i sell it and get my mach 1 here in the next month or so. I have a chip in it that took the limiter off and i have hit 123 in it where it seems to top out and the handling wasnt much different than as if i was going 90 which i do alot on the freeway, cuz i work nights so they are always empty.
