2008 Mach 1 Shootout: Class question...

Is there enough interest in adding a class for single power adder? This was the "Power Mach" class from last year's Shootout. Here are the classes from the Shootout in 2007:

Quote:
First 5 classes are all heads up using a .500 Pro Tree. Bracket class will be a Sportsman .500 tree.

1. Factory Mach - N/A Only! Street tire/drag radials, factory or aftermarket full exhaust, shorty headers OK! Aftermarket gears and basic engine external bolt ons (no ported intake), intake spacer OK! Factory transmission, strengthening mods only, (example: 26 spline input shaft OK), no 2 step, no trans brake, aftermarket shifter OK! aluminum flywheel OK! Factory style suspension front & back, example no tubular K-member or tubular A arms. Aftermarket rear upper lower control arms OK! removing front sway bar OK! Aftermarket full/standard sub-frames OK! Lowering springs OK! Custom tunes OK! Full interior, No skinnies, factory style 17" or larger wheels, factory style brakes, any Driveshaft!

2. Modified Mach- N/A Only! No internal modifications to 4.6l DOHC Factory Long Block, ported intake OK, aftermarket intake OK. Anything else goes!

3. Super Mach - N/A Only! Anything else goes. 4.6l DOHC or 5.4l DOHC modular motor OK!

4. Power Mach - No internal modifications to the 4.6l DOHC Factory Long Block, ported intake OK, aftermarket intake OK, Single Power adder only! Anything else goes.

5. Ultimate Mach- Power adders Only! Anything goes. 4.6l DOHC or 5.4l DOHC modular motor.

Guys runing nitrous can run one of the N/A classes also. Bottles will be checked so that supply line is disconnected.
This year it looks like anyone with a Drag Radial can be in that class. That is going to mix up some 10 second cars with some 11 second cars. Some of the heavy hitters are running drag radials. I would like to see the Power Mach class and the Ultimate Mach used again as listed above. I asked Jim about this in private and he wants to see if there is interest to change the classes to reflect one for a single power adder as well as one for anything goes for those with more than one power adder.

Personally I would like to see a class for a single power adder. My Mach is completely stock except for the Kenne Bell and runs on drag radials. Lid runs 10s all day long and runs drag radials too. Under the current classes, we would be in the same class. I would like to run other Machs with only a blower, would make for more competetive racing.

Re: 2008 Mach 1 Shootout: Class question...

I am N/A but agree that there is a pretty large range of performance for the DR class. The only problem we may run into is that if we drill down to 5 or 6 classes, there will be about 3 people per class.
