You know, after you put in the drivetrain and such, I don't think you should paint it. That would be one special Mustang with the current paint scheme.

j/k looks great so far man. can't wait to see the crate motor

Re: New Project "R" thread

Before I forget.
I want to thank a lot of members here for assisting with this project.
Many have gotten me deals on new parts they had and didn't need,
or steered me toward where I could get them.
I am afraid I may forget some, so I will just say "Thanks" to all registry members.
The one exception is Joe Charles (Reg. member Itlrun) at Parkway Ford.
He has bent over backwards with info and helped immensely with FRPP stuff.
Get your Ford stuff from Joe.
You won't be sorry.
I'm not!

Yeah, right now it's technicolor.
I am still fitting stuff to it.
The motor will start as a 2004 Vintage Navi motor.
Then Boss 330 will get his hands on the heads, and Forged rods and pistons will go in.
I do have a bit of time before the body shop gets it.
(I have to take the entire car apart, detail EACH piece, then get it to the BS)
They have a Pantera on the rotisserie.
I still have complete wiring harnesses (100% new Ford stuff) in the garage.

I was really gonna say I liked the paint choice(s)! You can have the fastest Mustang NO MATTER WHAT COLOR!

Many of the different colored parts are for mockup only.
(outer door handles, etc.)
New parts in the garage bins.

Exactly! Why waste money on a mod that isn't going to make the car faster?

Re: New Project "R" thread

Thanks
Next series of photos will hopefully be with the motor ( 5.4 32V) being test fitted.
I have an interesting set of headers coming also.
Edit:
I almost forgot.
As high as the car sits, there IS an engine in the car right now.
It's the original motor and trans from my old 2000 GT.
I will be getting a set of FRPP "J" springs from Joe Charles (Itlrun)
at Parkway Ford. ( a site sponsor)

So have you figured out what you are going to put in that 5.4 ? Interested in knowing myself . Do you think that Ford will bring the big motor up from R.&D. with all the others upping the anny ? I was reading they might . Soon it will be to much to choose from . LOL Cant wait to see what happens .

Re: New Project "R" thread

It will have a forged crank.
Manley rods.
Forged pistons (whatever Al Pappito aka Boss330 recommends for 11:1)
AP recommended camshafts
AP ported 03/04 Mach/Cobra heads
Billet oil pump gears
Accufab Trigger wheel (though I was going to say TB didn't you?)
Probably a stock Mach/Cobra pan-pickup
Custom intake (mate!)
FRPP Aluminum FW w/ Terminator clutch disc and plate
2000 "R" spec FRPP T-56 trans
AP expects roughly 400 + streetable RWHP.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Crate motor ordered today.
Should have it next week.
Ordered a new 2004 Navi 5.4 32V to start from.
Getting it from KarKraft.
Cheapest I could find.
Wanted to get it from Itlrun, but Ford cancelled the Navi crate motor.
Sorry Joe, I tried!

I got them from Diversifed Products (http://www.buyfordracing.com/shop/pr...roducts_id=621. )
They were about 100 bucks less for the same exact thing.(00 "R" kit)
Identical, just silver calipers instead of black.
It will fit the color "theme" of the car.

00 "R" spec T56 ordered today along with an FR500 catback.
The catback is for IRS equipped Cobras.
It has a built-in "X" pipe to go along with the normal "H" pipe.
Link: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=4953
Thanks again Joe Charles (Itlrun) at Parkway Ford. (site sponsor!!!!!)

Re: New Project "R" thread

Thanks.
I should have the motor test fit within 2 weeks of now.
The car will be about 99 1/2% Genuine Ford Parts when done.
(I include FRPP being Genuine Ford.)
I was just in the garage playing with the intake and brainstorming.
Getting close to prototype time.
I stopped by some long time Ford/LM parts people today (friends of mine)
and brought the intake with me.
They were a bit taken aback by it.
They know I am up to no good.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Stock Navi or Boss 290?
Stock Boss 290 is close to 400/400
Stock Navi is 300 HP - 355 lb./ft.
I should be a bit over 400 at the rear wheels when done.

The other reason I am building this car,
is to develop a relatively low cost 5.4 32V swap kit for 99-04 Mustangs.

Most "connections" are in place but need to develop it further.
It will be easier and lower cost for Mach-N/A 99-01 Cobra owners to do this if I succeed.
It will also work for Mustang GT's, but will likely cost more.
