SVT is a US only product. The hot Focus in Europe is the RS and the ST170. The Cobras sent to Australia are labeled FPV.

I decided to change gears all little for this one, mostly due to a few posts elsewhere and a few real life encounters...

For today; periodically factories will put out a vehicle package to tie in with a TV show or movie. We all know the tomato red w/white stripes Torino from Starsky and Hutch, we are all familiar with the '01 Bullitt released as a tribute to the movie of the same name. Did you know that Toyota did a T3 Tundra in conjuntion with that movie? Carroll Shelby is doing the Eleanor replicas of the latset version of Gone in 60 Seconds. The black/gold Trans Ams from the late '70's were out before Smokey and the Bandit, so they wouldn't fit into the description nor would the Nieman- Marcus BMW Z3 or T-Bird that were sold as commemoratives of the appropriate Bond films.

The Vanishing Point? Original movie had a 1970 Dodge challenger R/T that had to be driven 1500 mi in 15 hrs due to a bet. Than I believe they made a remake of this in the 90's.

Do cartoons count? I believe the Roadrunner cartoon character was out before the car. Or was the name just a coincidence and the car company later used the "beep, beep" for a horn?

Plymouth spent a ton of money on the horn for the Road Runner so it would make the 'Beep-Beep' sound so fondly remembered. I'll say that one definitly belongs on the list. The Vanishing Point car was a heck of a ride, but not a commemorative edition like I'm looking for. The remake was pretty good, with a lot of other hot cars in the background.Haven't seen it rebroadcast either, should have taped it!:THUMBSUP:

That would have been the 30th Anniversary of the T-Bird, but the only engine I remeber for that was the plain 5.0 and I don't recall an Anniv. edition until the '90 dark blue Anniv. Edition car for the 35th Anniv.

I can only think of the Mustang (cobra and svo) and T-Bird. And I think Mercury had some too, just can't recall the names. Must be old age :LAUGH:

Yes, the 1985 30th Anniv. T-bird had 180hp V8 out of Mustang GT auto. model.

Sounds about right! The one I didn't think anyone would get was the Zephyr/Fairmony. I actually drove a 5 speed turbo 4 door Fairmont...what a freak that was!
