Re: What has TTSaleen been up to?

I've had the H+R Race Springs along with the Maximum Motorsports isolators.
My car sat a little higher than I liked.
So I pulled the top isolator out and put a small piece of an old bicycle tube on the top just to keep it from straight metal to metal contact.
Lowered the car almost 1/2"! I like the look/stance now much better.

I also swapped out my last 2 stock pulleys for a set of Metco 90mm replacements.

Re: What has TTSaleen been up to?

Replaced my passenger side door cup and put in new lock/window switches.
My factory one had the broken top tab.

And here's a few recent pics since I removed the top isolators (using H+R Race springs).

So if you had to choose for a weekend street car, track car and toy Mach 1, terminator or G8 gt?

I will tell you that is a hard choice!
The Mach 1 was one of my favorite project cars. It looked cool and ran great. While not the fastest of the 3 you mentioned, it was still a blast to drive.
This one could be the daily driver/toy.

The Cobra falls into the same category. It runs great, looks good, and makes great power.
This one would be my weekend street car.

However my go-to vehicle that can have the looks, power, and comfort for my family......the G8 wins it. Haha.
This one could serve double duty as track car and weekend street car.

I just had the windows retinted on it.
Removed the 43% as measured tint.
Installed 50% on the windshield and 20% on the sides/back.

Re: What has TTSaleen been up to?

I saw your build when I was poking around on the g8 forums, it's turned into a really sweet car. What would you say it cost to get the g8 into the 11's? Assuming I start with a stock factory car? I'm starting to look closer at the g8 gt. And would you be concerned with a g8 with 120k - 140k Miles?

Glad my project has helped you make a decision!
I would estimate around $4k to $5k for the necessary mods to get into the 11's.
For this you would be looking at head work (porting, valves, springs, etc), DOD delete, new camshaft, lifters, pushrods, ported intake, ported throttle body, long tube headers, full exhaust, rear gears (differential upgrade), tires, mass air meter, cold air kit, custom tune, etc.

I would not be concerned with the miles around 120-140k as long as the engine still has good compression, doesn't smoke, or use any oil.
This is because you will basically be building a new top end on it.

Good luck!
Ryan

Re: What has TTSaleen been up to?

Took my Cobra to the track yesterday.
Spin-City with the Toyo TQ 18" radials, but did manage to run 135mph in the 1/4.

Nice mph. Any day at the track where nothing breaks is a good day!

Re: What has TTSaleen been up to?

Haven't updated this thread in a while.
So in the last few months here's the quick update -

Got the racing bug again.
Installed Hoosier 28-10 slicks onto my Bogart rear wheels.
Installed M&H front runners onto my 17" Bogart front wheels.

Went to Fayetteville Dragstrip on 11/12/2017 and ran 1st pass ever on drag setup.
During burnout alternator quit, dash gauges did a full sweep, but car still running....so of course I staged it and made the pass. LOL
4K launch and small bog outta the hole. 1.68 sixty foot time.
Ran 7.0 @ 99mph in the 1/8th and a 10.70 @ 136 in the 1/4.
Drove back to pits and battery gauge at 11.8 volts.
No more runs.

11/19/2017 - Back to Fayetteville with a fixed alternator (broken internal solder joint that Johnny's Electric fixed under warranty - 200amp upgrade).
Did a burnout and staged.
4k launch and BOOM, driver side 1/2 shaft decided it had enough.

So car is now down for a minute till I fix it. Going for a mid to low 10 second pass before end of the year.
Car is super fun to drive and banging the gears is always exciting.

Stay tuned as I decide if I stick with the IRS and spend almost $2K for upgraded 1/2 shafts or if I go with the proven solid-axle swap.
