Re: New Project "R" thread

I feel like I have been neglecting the car, but the upper is next on the list.
I actually sat in the car today, and dang, the interior is pretty nice.

Car looks awesome:THUMBSUP: , cant wait to see it done

I was wondering of with a 1" spacer if you think you could clear a 15 inch wheel on the front with the brembos or if theres any way to clear a 15 with that setup?

I think you need a minimum 16 inch wheel to clear the Brembos.
The rotors are 13".
The wheel would have to have a lot of outboard clearance,
as the calipers have dual outboard pistons and are pretty "thick".

Re: New Project "R" thread

Had an interesting weekend.
Learned a lot about the commonalities and differences
between the early (96-98) and late (99-04) SN95 Mustangs
as far as 5.4 32V engine fitment.
I just plain learned a bunch.
The "kit" I am developing with my project will also fit 96-98 Mustangs
with only a few minor changes (different parts).
A lot of parts I already developed will work on 96-98.
I suspected they would but had to see it first hand.
Ford did us a big favor by designing and building our Machs
(and all SN95 Mustangs) the way that they did.
I am expecting the upper intake prototype in the next couple days.

Re: New Project "R" thread

The first intake is going to be fiber board to check for dimensions, fitness, etc.
After that, aluminum.

Re: New Project "R" thread

A couple of shots with the lid off.
Plenty of plenum area.
Will be making the front plenum area a bit larger.

Re: New Project "R" thread

Did some rerouting and re-bending of the AC lines tonight.
Where Ford ran them on the Mach is too close to the manifolds,
and actually hits the engine, and could burst from heat.
I re-routed the stock hoses over the strut tower away from the engine.
It's very tight down there, but they do fit.
Did I mention that this engine is HUGE?
Also dummied up the heater hoses (stock 01-04 Mustang 32V V8 heater hoses).
Now it's getting to the nitty-gritty of the deal.
This swap is not simple, nor is it hard.
Maybe it's a bit more challenging considering what I started with.
It is pretty interesting how Ford designed and built these cars.
I like 'em.

Means 290(KW). Australia uses Kilowatts for power. 290KW = 388 HP.

Re: New Project "R" thread

You know the show on cable "V8 SUpercars" Think I've seen Boss 290 insignias on some of those Austrailian Fords or Falcon which always seem to beat the Holdens which are their GM GTOs if I am not mistaken??

Steve: lotta progress on that manifold, if that was me I'd still be reuppin on the dew
