Turbo parts list

So I've been buying up parts to turbo the car. I'm going On3 for the kit.
So far this is the parts list that I have already bought for the car.

eBoost2 boost controller
UPR tubular k member/a arms
MM coilover kit with c/c plates
03 Cobra 39lb injectors
KB BAP
Walbro 290lph fuel pump assembly
2 - 38mm Turbosmart wastegates
Aeroforce wideband kit - already have the gauges
Ordering a new Circle D converter next week.

I'm debating on going ahead and buying new v-band clamps while I'm at it. Should I look in to a BOV also or is the On3 piece ok?

Any other parts that I should consider buying? I'm down to pretty much just the turbo kit itself.

03 Cobra--18x9/10.5 TSW Nurburgring Wheels, Nitto NT05's 275/295, Stiegemeier ported, 2.87” pulley, Canton 9-qt oil pan, Spec Stage II clutch, MM coilovers, Bilstein Shocks/Struts, LFP heat exchanger, LFP radiator, Evans cooling system, 14" Brembo 4 Piston calipers, 470whp, 460ft-lbs

Re: Turbo parts list

My BOV has been working just fine.

V-bands, if you go with new ones, the bands at Vibrant performance are awesome, much easier to put on/on by their design. You can also replace the T-Bolts when you strip them out instead of buying a new V-band. And, you will strip at least one out before you learn that you are over-tightening them.

How much power are you going for and what fuel type?

Wire upgrade maybe needed for your fuel pump. Are you keeping the Return-less fuel system?

I have also found that it is a great idea to install a real Temp. sensor/gauge to your car, you will be creating a ton more heat and the gauge in the dash is more like an idiot light, all good until it blows up.

When you buy the On3 forward facing kit, I would highly recommend their Intercooler upgrade option, for just 100.00 it is worth it. (but does depend on how much power/boost you are planning)

Get new Ford Exhaust Manifold gaskets, they are not that expensive and work well. The On3 gaskets are really cheap and you do not want to install the headers twice (learn from me).

Get the Canton Oil relocator kit, the On3 is not worth the hassle, it is prone to leaks and the oil lines are poor.

-10AN turbo oil drain upgrade, see my build log.

Highly recommend changing your radiator system; Mustang GT lower hose and put the thermostat in the upper hose. If you need pics or part numbers let me know. You will delete the hose from the coolant crossover to the lower radiator hose. Just take the crossover and have the connection that is not used welded up. I have pics of this as well.

Consider getting new o-rings for your coolant crossover, I am sure they are old and worn. You will need 3 of them.

You will be glad you went with the turbosmart Wastegates, they are much smaller and resolves all fitment issues. Good call.

Good to know on the over-tightening. Especially since I've never used them at all.

Stock bottom end so for now 450ish on 93. Keeping the stock fuel system aside from the pump and injectors of course. I'll probably eventually get one of lethals fuel kits to do the whole system.

I have also found that it is a great idea to install a real Temp. sensor/gauge to your car, you will be creating a ton more heat and the gauge in the dash is more like an idiot light, all good until it blows up.

Got dual aeroforce gauges already too so shouldn't be any problem. Just bought the oil pressure sensor kit to go with it too.

Was planning on adding that, turbo blanket, and the slot style flange put on when I order it since I also already have the VMP HPX maf sensor.

Hadn't thought about that either.

So the oil filter has to be relocated with this kit?
Any experience with the MM piece? http://www.maximummotorsports.com/Oi...Duty-P216.aspx

Is the oil restrictor worth buying also?

Isn't there a kit that ModularSpeed designed that On3 or MMR was making for doing that?

Bought those from your suggestion in the PM's you sent me.

More questions above

I really like the Thermal Zero blanket, I picked it up on Amazon but the guy selling it is the owner of Thermal Zero (DTC AutoGroup) and it is cheaper than his company site.

Yes, the kit that MM sells uses the Canton parts, makes it easy as it has all the hoses and connectors / brackets. Just buy that one, you may be able to get it cheaper by piecing it together like I did but it will only be a few bucks cheaper.

Yes, you can go this route as well, the route I took cost me 25 for the lower GT hose and I think less than 50 for the rest. Either way works well but you will still need the lower GT hose.

Looking forward do your build.

Re: Turbo parts list

btw, I used a side tap on my oil pan instead of the front tap for the turbo oil drain, did not like it tapped on the front so close to the belt/harmonic balancer. But, I am sure it really did not matter. I also had it welded in.

I was thinking about having mine welded as well. I figured since I'll have the k member completely off anyways I might as well pull the oil pan off as well.

Re: Turbo parts list

The other thing I have to decide is what gear will be the most appropriate for my setup since the 4.10's are going to have to go. I figured it will likely be 3.55 or 3.27s.

Re: Turbo parts list

Do you know what size and how many v-band and t-bolts I need for the On3 kit?

This depends on the transmission used. I have a Th400 and put 3.08s in since it is a driver with no overdrive.

I will have to look to be sure but if I recall correctly you will need 3x 2.5" and 1 3".

The 3" is at the downpipe and the 2.5 are the two at the header and the connection that joins the hot-side. They come with the T-Bolts but it would be good to have a couple on hand. This reminds me, I need to order a couple as well.

I'll be running a built 4R70W so I'll have o/d so I won't need to go as far as 3.08s.

Re: Turbo parts list

Maximum Motorsports Oil filter relocation kit and Thermal Zero blanket are on the way now. Calling Circle D this afternoon work out the last few details of the new converter and then that will be on the way too.

Only items left are the crossover delete, v-bands(hopefully from not a gt), and then the turbo kit itself.

Which reminds me I was looking at On3's crossover delete and was thinking about getting the setup that allows for the head cooling mod as well.
I'm just not sure which setup I need.
1 temp sensor or 2?
I know I'll need to check the box for the additional read head fitting, but will I need the one that has one or 2 fittings?

One more reason I love Circle D. They gave me a nice discount for repeated business.

Getting two would be a good idea, I had to have a second temp sensor added to my crossover tube. 1 temp sensor for factory and the 2nd for the aftermarket temp gauge.

Re: Turbo parts list

So I have to ask another noob question. Looking at Vibrants website they have this clamp that says it is good up to 2.56" OD and in the description it says:

- This Quick Release V-Band Clamp is used in our V-Band Flange Assemblies
for 2" O.D. tubing (Part #1488)

- This clamp is suitable for V-band Flanges measuring up to 2.6" O.D.

http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=152

So should I buy that or this one that says:
- This Quick Release V-Band Clamp is used in our V-Band Flange Assemblies
for 2.5" O.D. tubing (Part #1490)

- This clamp is suitable for V-band Flanges measuring up to 3.2" O.D.

Re: Turbo parts list

For the Headers/hot-side you need 3 of the #1490C.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the downpipe you need one #1491C.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

When they give the OD measurement, it includes the flange, this is why the measurement is so confusing. I remember this pain very well because I ordered the wrong ones at first. These links are the exact ones I ordered, I pulled them from my Amazon purchase history.

Re: Turbo parts list

You're the man. Got them ordered.

I'm looking in to head cooling mods as well now. Trying to figure out the differences in them. Figured I'd knock that out as well since I'll have easy access to the back of the engine when I have the k-member, trans, and headers all off.

No problem, glad I could help.

Yes, I would recommend the cooling mod while you are there. I cannot personally help you on this one as HPP built one for me when I had my trans out. Sorry.
