Plasti Dip Fail
I thought I'd try my hand at Plasti Dip today. Never done it before, so was going to give it a shot. When I pulled the tape off I tore up the edges, so it was somewhat irritating. Looked decent though for the first attempt. I'll give it another go sometime.

Re: Plasti Dip Fail
I've heard for edges you have to lift the tape off when still wet, or "cut" along the edge of the tape if dry

Re: Plasti Dip Fail
You have to pull the tape off immediately after spraying it. It looks sweet though.

Re: Plasti Dip Fail
I pulled it off right after the last coat. Maybe I left too much time between coats I don't know.

$5 worth of plastidip and a little more work>Hundreds of dollars on a professional paint job and no work.

Re: Plasti Dip Fail
Very interested to see this. They also sell a clear coat spray if you'd rather gloss finish instead of black. Never seen it in stores though.

I've only seen plastidip on tool handles. How does the black look compared to the vinyl? Is it about the same satin finish?

Re: Plasti Dip Fail
We did whole car not long back as well as a few sets of rims. Comes out pretty good for the price.
Trick with stripes is to either peel and retape imediately after each coat or dont spray near the tape only in the middle and then lay one heavy coat across it all and peal the tape. Leaves a little less edge that way I think. the kit from dipyourcar is not a bad deal. |
