Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
Got to go to the recently opened NOLA Raceway park, about 20 minutes from New Orleans. The local SAAC group set up an meeting, which was very nice except for weather that would have put less than die hard car people. We go to run the go karts (seriously fun), as well as enjoy the Ferrari Challenge track event going on next to us. They'll be expanding to include drag racing and are obviously adding to the track on a daily basis. Someone spend some serious change on building this facility.

Re: Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
That was one thing we were discussing there. It would be great enough to be able to afford a Ferrari, but to be a able to afford one and put it on the track (and this is one big, fast track) would be unbelieveable.

Thanks for the pixs John. Did you beg for a ride in one of the Ferraris?

Re: Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
The past two years I did and was able to enjoy some wild rides in some seriously fast cars. This year it was mainly track cars and rides weren't being given. I'd even brought my own helmet on the chance on getting a ride.

Re: Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
Saw it from the air on Saturday landing at MSY (I'm an airline pilot) - I had no idea it was even there. Looked like a super fun track and I could see the cars running on it. Made me drool!

Re: Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
I'm surprised someone hasn't tried to land there. The track would make a great strip, the facility is newer and cleaner, and you could just hope out of the plane and do a few laps in one of the go karts for good measure!

Re: Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
I have been meaning to get over there and check it out. I wish they would hurry up and get the drag strip open. A quick hop over the Huey P from my house, maybe 20 min at the most.
Kinda sucks really considering we used to have to drive all the way to Donaldsonville, missed a lot of track trips because of how far the drive was. |

The Huey P was closed the morning we went and cayused all kids of problems for many trying to get there.
if the strip isnt opened yet, it should be soon. they were advertising drag racing when we were there.

Re: Shelbys, Ferraris, and NOLA
They are, and it was pure music to hear all of the cars out on the track at full song.
