Anyone thought about going back to cash based spending?
In just 3 clicks I have just spent almost $300 on a new soundbar and subwoofer from Amazon. (stupid stupid SmartTV that streams music)
It literally takes 3 clicks to pay off my credit card. With direct deposit, I have not held a tangible paycheck in almost 2 decades. Money has not existed in years; it is merely little bits of data that represent currency stored in various accounting systems. The convenience is really nice; i'll have new speakers at my front door tomorrow having never left my desk chair. I can send stuff to my parents and the offspring from the comfort of my own home. But ugh, there is not enough restraint on spending on my part sometimes. _ |

Re: Anyone thought about going back to cash based spending?
All my car part purchases are done in cash... wife cannot track cash spending.
Oh, and I get a discount since the shop does not get hit with 3-5% charges on cards. They have to pay 3% on all credit/debit card purchases, for cards that give cash back rewards... guess what, they are charged those rewards too. Credit card companys are out nothing!

It would be nice to pay cash for most things, but like you said it's so easy to sit in your chair and buy stuff. Also with cash you see where your money is going and how fast.

Nope. As the 1, 2, 3%, sometimes 5%, cash back with sometimes free/included shipping ads up while my cash sits in the bank also earning interest.

Re: Anyone thought about going back to cash based spending?
I thought cash was king until I was handed 5 $100 bills and 3 were fake.

I always bring a second person with me for face to face sales and mark every bill with a currency pen (although beware - the pen checks the paper, not the ink. If they wash a $5 bill and reprint it as a $100 it will still mark as legit)
