R.I.P. Frank. A fun loving guy who was always a great representative for both the Mach 1 and Mustang communities. I always looked forward to some QS&L with him after the Columbus swap meets.

Re: R.I.P. Frank McKnight - You Will Be Missed

I never met Frank, but he seemed like a super nice fellow who had a ton of enthusiasm for cars, Hooters, football and life in general. He seemed like a kind person who never had a bad word to say about anyone and reading the posts here about those who had met him, I'd say that is 100% accurate. He will surely be missed here on the Registry but more importantly by those whose lives he was an everyday part of. I know this place will not be the same without his spirit. My sincere condolences to Frank's family and friends and GODSPEED Frankie!

Re: R.I.P. Frank McKnight - You Will Be Missed

Here we are at the Hooter's in Lexington KY with Frank in 2003. This was the
first time many of us had ever met face to face. Heck, I didn't even have a
Mach1 yet and Ray and Sue even drove through the remnants of hurricane
Isabel to come to the cruise in. I knew Frank and I would be pretty good
friends when he asked me to tie his shoelace so we could hurry up and get in
our Mustangs to cruise. He made sure to point out that he could tie it himself
but it would just take a little longer and he didn't want anything to cut into
his Mustang cruising time!

Here is Frank at the Mustang 40th Anniversary with John Force

Re: R.I.P. Frank McKnight - You Will Be Missed

WOW!! I'm am in shock!! I just talked to Frank about 3-4 weeks ago on the phone and he was talking about buying a Blue 2013 Mustang up in Indianapolis at Ray Skillman Ford. I sent him the info to him and went and checked out the car out and got back with him. I told him maybe he should wait until things get better but you know Frank.. He never complains about anything about his health and was looking forward to getting this car. But at that time, he took my advice and decided to wait. He also wanted to come to the Race to Indy Carshow last weekend but he thought maybe now wasn't the best time to come and that was the last time we spoke. It's a Very Sad Day in Mach 1 land and Ole Buddy Frank will be sadly missed by all of us.

So to the man in Azure Blue Mach 1.......... Frank McKnight.... We salute ya!!!

Rest in Peace my friend!!!

P.S. Anything does come up with a Car Show or anything else, please let me know Tony or Dave.

Re: R.I.P. Frank McKnight - You Will Be Missed

My prayers and heartfelt best wishes go to Frank's family. I first met him along with Greg (Hammer) at the Bullitt & Mach 1 GTGs @ Hooters Beechmont, Cincy back in March ‘04 and the quarterly gtg's there till Beechmont location closed. There were some QS&L adventures in Cincy and Columbus too. Back in ’06, I came to a Huntington Hooters where you were having a cruise-in show. I had a fantastic time. Other gtgs & shows, NMRA races came and went. Good times. You came to our national show back in ’07. Again, good times and met my local friends ending up at Hooters again. For a few shows in ’06 or ‘07, it was you, Greg and I. Then in Sept. ’07 Bill (Linemup) and Phil and Jeff @ CRT treated us to a great time at the 1st Annual Mach 1 Showdown. You borrowed my helmet so you could drive the Norwalk 1320. I’ll never forget that moment, seeing you, helmet on with the biggest grin! (Pictures somewhere?) That was awesome. That was a wonderful day. A year later I was just starting my divorce and we lost touch. We shared a few other Hooter adventures with Greg and Tony, Ricky before your health started to outwardly decline. I wish I could have hung out with you one last time. I’ll miss you Frankie. You are at the top of the list of the most enthusiastic mustang peeps I’ve ever known! Godspeed! You’ll be greatly missed. I’m gonna light’em up in your honor, but I’d rather buy you a beer and be in your company...at Hooters, of course. Thanks for thee memories.

Re: R.I.P. Frank McKnight - You Will Be Missed

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Franks passing. I think the first time I met Frank was at the 40th in Nashville. I love the Mach1 but my love of the Mach paled in comparison to Franks love of it. He was the ultimate Mach1 enthusiast. The picture above was taken at Barber Motorsport Park during the MCA 30th celebration. I think I was once again bantering with Frankie as we waited to go out on the track. I loved joking around with him and will miss him. Every time I walk in to a Hooters I will look to the sky and lift a cold one in his honor. Frankie was a wonderful person and a fellow "Blue Crew" member here on the registry. RIP Frank McKnight, you will be missed!

Re: R.I.P. Frank McKnight - You Will Be Missed

Folks,

I've been in contact with a fellow Mustanger who has been in touch with Frank's sister. I believe they are working on a plan to get a carshow/cruise-in set up in his honor.

In the meantime, Dave Wagner has provided the following PayPal address to use for collecting donations, which we can send in Frank's name, to the American Cancer Society. Please use INFO@MACH1REGISTRY.COM

I will ask Dave to post a total after we leave this open for awhile.

I am reminded today of the preciousness of life. We've lost other Mach 1 Registry members, and each time we have, it brings a moment to reflect. I plan to take both my Mustangs out today and this weekend in his memory, just like mentioned above.

Have a blessed weekend, folks.

I just sent my donation, and I hope every member of the M1R will see fit to send what they can afford in Frank's memory. Forgo a mod or two now to honor a fellow Mach 1/Mustang enthusiast who was indeed the epitome of an "enthusiast."

He may have had trouble sometimes getting the words out, or written down, but you definitely knew what it was he was trying to say! He had a passion for life, Ford, Mustangs, and especially his prized Azure Blue Mach 1!
