In every challenge an opportunity.

Woner how many RPM it's good for?

Re: 5.0 stroker

It seems they've done all their testing on the 2v's and 3v's either way it looks pretty serious. Thinking of building one?

We need one with about 12:1 compression.

I talked to FR today and they have done some 4V testing. I gotta call them back tomorrow and get some results. I'm just curious but it won't matter. I'll make what I make.

Hehe. Yeah. But not with the D1.
CR is 9.6 on this one.

High comp, high RPM safe in aluminum would be sweet.

Didn't see where the link notes safe RPM range or block material?

Re: 5.0 stroker

The highest CR they will offer for a 4v will be 11.6 (flat tops) and the pistons will probably not have valve reliefs.

It's an aluminum block, says it in the description.

Re: 5.0 stroker

That is not cheap, considering an aluminator is @6500.00

I do like the ease of the factory built 5.0 short-block though...

11:1 would be fine with me N/A with the right set up. They are getting 440 with the 3V and the hot rod cams...

not bad...

its only money

On an engine dyno they are getting 440hp. Take 15% from that and it would make 374 at the wheels which isn't bad considering the mild cams. A stock 3v will make 355-360rw with the Hot Rod cams. Since the stroker has more cubes it needs more duration and with more duration it would make even more power.

What's more important is that the stroker will gain power throughout the entire powerband which will make the car significantly quicker.

Anyone got a good contact for a short block builder? L&M... Livernois? I have boss rods, aluminum wap block, possibly might go big bore/stroker

Re: 5.0 stroker

Well. I called Ford Racing yesterday to inquire about the 4V testing numbers......nobody had a clue what I was talking about. According to them, no testing done with the 4V heads yet. I wasn't too happy. If no one else has done it, in about 3 to 4 weeks, I'll have it done. It'll be with a D1 - 4" pulley or smaller, 80lb injectors, IW 10% OD, Kooks step up 1 7/8" LTs and 3" side exhaust. As long as I get the right belt lengths, we'll be good.

I can't really say anything bad about FR. They did give me a pass side head and 2 rods. For that, I am very thankful!!!

Re: 5.0 stroker

Update:
Motor is in the car. Waiting for ProM to return the tube(Tuesday morning) and then on Wed the car gets tuned.

Here is a picture of the pistons and one of the factory windage tray. I opted not to use the Canton windage tray.

Re: 5.0 stroker

Howdy
I didn’t post up results because we really aren’t finished.
The car put down 595/513 @ 11.3 AFR @ 6200rpm and 18deg of timing. Still have a few things to work on.
There’s a 4” pulley on the D1 and a 10% OD balancer which produced 13lbs of boost.
Cams are Ford GT.
1 ¾” to 1 7/8” Kooks headers to 3” exhaust with no cats.
Fuel was approx. 50/50 MS109/93 Sunoco.
Fuel pressure is 40psi @ idle with vac disconnected and it’s a return system with 8AN feed/6AN return. Twin Walbro 400lbh pumps. Voltage is 14.3v at the pumps.
Oil pressure was 85psi and oil temp was 160deg min. We didn’t do any pulls until the oil/coolant were fully up to temp.
Max IATs on subsequent pulls were around 108deg.
Coolant temp was approx. 180+/- a couple of degrees. I don’t remember the temp in the shop but I’d guess in the upper 70’s to low 80s, but not higher than that.
Borrowed a set of DRs from CMEMACH1 to give us traction on the rollers.

Unfortunately, the data log quit on the last pull. But I’ll be sure to get a data log when we get those small issues resolved. With the data log quitting, we only have a guess as to why it quit making power at 6200. So, once we make a few small changes, we’ll see. I’m happy so far. I’m not chasing a dyno number as that is only the number THAT day on the dyno. During racing conditions, that number will be diminished some. I’m more interested in the data log as that will tell the story. Sorry I don’t have one, but by spring, I will. That's the update for now.

What I can say is that the BFG R1S tires do not like to be cold. Unlike a Hoosier A6, the R1S needs heat. I wasn't sure until our 1st and 2nd runs at Weatherly. I could spin the tires in 1st thru 4 gear just by putting my foot down. I did not try the A6s that day as we were just interested in making sure the car did ok. Next year will be another story!

Re: 5.0 stroker

Slightly off topic question - hope no one minds!
What differences arise in components when going 2-valve or 4-valve? I'm aware the 2v is SOHC and the 4v is a DOHC, but does this have any direct effect on compression, intake, or the computer?
