Winter Driving

Gotta keep those Mach 1's running in the winter! After that Clipper layed down about 4" of snow last week the roads were back in shape by the weekend for some winter fun. sunday was 6F deg. when i got up. Had to use a hairdryer to get the 70' Machs' ignition column & Swith loosened up,but s beautiful clear day for cruzin'. Back to crap weather this morning with Freezing Rain..yuk.

Re: Winter Driving

I do keep mine running in this weather; start it and let it run monthly in the garage. Sorry sir as long as I don't HAVE to, my Mach 1 will not be out on the roads in winter.

Re: Winter Driving

Ur Brave, one year my '70 got kicked out of the garage for an anniversary party, well that night it snowed. Lets just say I got stuck trying to go down hill

Re: Winter Driving

I've had to daily drive my Mach over the last 2 winters. A few weeks ago, we got a new ride for my wife so i'll take over the Buick POS for daily purposes on nasty days. I really don't want to oficially put my Mach in hibernation. How often should I get her out this winter to keep the fluids and seals in order?

Got caught in a 6" snow storm last winter with nearly bald P275's in back. It took me over 2 hours to get home LOL. I needed a push on 4 different occasions that evening. Really though, the fresh snow was cool. It's was that salty - slushy snow and road grime that always made my heart hurt.

Re: Winter Driving

Im soooo glad I dont have to deal with this

honestly, if it were mine it would go down for the winter and not be touched until driving time. We have 4 different vehicles that stay at our place in NC and they go from early August until Thanksgiving without being touched and then usually from around the first of December until the last few days in June without being touched. The ones that didnt already have leaks before being semi retired to NC still dont have any leaks or issues and the ones already dripping a little havent gotten any worse.

IMHO, running them from time to time when they dont stay at operating temperature long enough to remove all the moisture caused by the warm up process is more harmful then it sitting.

Throw in some staybil, disconnect the battery or put a tender on it and put out some rodent deterrent
