Re: Family day at KW. Retired 35 years

I've never been to a work get together in my 20+ years at my job. No way I could put on a fake smile and act like I like people I hate. Just give me my retirement check in 9 years and I'm gone.

Re: Family day at KW. Retired 35 years

Congrats, I know several people that work at our local KW plant in Chillicothe, OH. They pay well and people seem to like it there a lot. The only down side to the plant here is that it seems to be up and down a lot. One of the guys that works for me has a brother that is/was a welder there and has been laid off for quite awhile.

Personally I'm pretty loyal to the brand with a T800 and a K300.

In nine more years that would make you about 85 or so right?

I was very lucky to find a company that truly cares about it's workers.

Our Renton plant was at 2 trucks a day during the worst part of the recession. Like Boeings it has its ups and downs. I hired in just at the right time and was never laid off in my 35 years with Kenworth.

I'm retiring the first day I'm eligible at 56. The post office is like the Bizzaro world. Everything is azzbackwards. The worst workers get treated like gold and the best workers get treated like crap. It's absolutely pathetic, and I'm not staying 1 day longer than I have to. I'll have 32 years including my military which also counts.
