Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

Maybe this is the year for Nitrous??? Anyone got a good link to a good affordable tested & tried complete kit system?? The only other thing id need is a larger set of tires to off-set the 4.56 gears right?? Ive already got a trailer for when she blows! Whatcha got?!?

Aparantly nobody wanted a racecar & trailer combo this last winter.. LoL..

They only wanted the powertrain or the trailer or the wheels or the hood etc.. Im not parting out the car & the trailer i use quite a bit, so i woulda had to go out & buy another one anyways..

You know how it is, I woulda thrown in the trailer (for the sale) but not any other reason..

Pics of the pistons with thermal top flame spray coating and teflon skirt coating. The weights of pistons, pins, rings, spirol locks will be checked/recorded.

Then the rotating assembly components will be balanced and short block assembled by next week at Victory Engines. Short block will then be transfered to CRT Performance, where Jeff C. will complete the engine build.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

Phil,

Just FYI. Im running 12.9:1 CR on my 322CI. Running 50/50 93 octane and MS109 fuel @ 23 deg with no detonation. 537RWHP 129MPH traps so far at ~3600LBS.

I have not been able to play with the timing since my SCT USB "key" took a dump on me. But, 100% MS109 will get it done! I think that it should be 550RW capable with full timing (~27Deg) on her!

Great thread! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing NAZ! That's impressive numbers!

I originally wanted to go with 13.1.. Due to keeping the small bore, JE prooved this would shroud the exhaust valves, reducing flow.

What kind of tq did that motor produce and at what RPM's did it make the peak numbers? Do you have a dyno sheet you could send me by chance I would like to look at it.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

Does anyone know about how long it takes the nitrous to be warm and ready with the bottle heater?

Figured this was the best place to ask

Did not see this post, sorry!

There are a lot of variables to this. Standard bottle wrap around like NX & N.O.S. make good bottle warmers, these are the only two I have used.

With summer ambient temps 70's and above, a full bottle may take about 10-15 min to get 1000 - 1050 psi, unless your bottle is low on nitrous. As the bottle gets lower on nitrous, so does the psi. Then heating the bottle will take a little longer.

If mounted in the trunk, you have to be very carefull of bottle temp during hot days. The trunk is like an oven and bottle temp will/can sky rocket without a bottle heater. Mounted in the rear seat area sitting in the sun can make the bottle temp even higher with direct sun hitting the bottle thru glass.

During cold days/nights in the 50's or less, it can take 30 min plus to heat up a bottle mounted in trunk.

Re: Custom Intake Carbureted & Nitrous Setup

I decided to go with a custom set of Cometic head gaskets to ensure I'm nothing under 12:1 CR. This of course has delayed the motor build.

Slowly, but surely! Pics of the long block. L&M adjustable cam gear set, Melling billet steel oil pump, ARP head studs, custom Cometic .028" thick/3.610" bore multy layer stainless head gaskets, MMR deep sump pan & windage tray.

Jeff Chambers installed the heads and degreed the cams, doing an oustanding job..
