Have a question about my door speakers and FAD/Balanace
I have no idea if Ford wired it this way but, when I adjust the fad to the rear speakers only, my front door speakers remain on. My highs/tweeters are blown, so when I adjust the fad to the front only, I have zero sound. I have an aftermarket Pioneer double din (nothing fancy) I installed about a year ago, but I’ve had the fad “problem” with the stock head unit. So is this correct? Or do I have bad wiring somewhere? I bought my car used back in ‘08, so I have no idea what the previous owner(s) may have done. Any help, feedback, info would be greatly appreciated!

Something isn't wired correctly somewhere. Did the harness look ok when you swapped out the head units? The balance and fade should work the same on stock and aftermarket head units.

They looked fine to me when I swapped them out. I was watching a YouTube vid by a shop, the guy is doing a head unit swap on a Mustang vert and explains that the lower door speakers, just like the rear deck ones, are sub woofers which apparently aren’t controlled by balance or fade. But if going aftermarket, it can be controlled with balance/fade YouTube link: https://youtu.be/_CRH4IX8ZJ8

Re: Have a question about my door speakers and FAD/Balanace
Oh, and my amp’s fuse holder melted for the 2nd time. I have a 4 gauge power wire running straight from the battery to my amp, with the fuse mounted approx 6” from the battery. I installed my bass setup back in ‘08 and never had any issues, then all of a sudden late last year, the fuse melted. I replaced it back in November and it melted again! I have a 40 amp fuse in it, and the holder itself is a Scosche (purchases at Walmart).

Re: Have a question about my door speakers and FAD/Balanace
I'd like to help, but not sure if I fully understand how your setup is different from the stock. Meaning...
1. Are you door and rear deck speakers stock? 2. Do you still have the rear deck mounted amps? 3. what wiring have you done; sounds like you have installed an amp in the truck? 4. 4 amp fuse? must be a type? 5. Have you changed any of the speaker wiring to the rear deck and/or door speakers? If so, what 6. Sounds like you installed head unit; how was the speaker outputs wired up? Meaning, in a normal install, you would / could wire in the 2.5" speakers in the door pods and rear deck to the deck's power output level. Then the sub out should be wired to the rear amps. Of course, you must have a lowpass and high pass crossovers configured in your head unit, otherwise you will blow those little 2.5" speakers. So, knowing how your head unit is wired would be huge in this case. 7. What wire kit did you use on your head unit?

Yes, rear deck amps are in place, nothing has been removed or swapped out, including speakers Quote:
Correct, it was a typo, I am using a 40 amp fuse [QUOTE=TKat13;1630454] 5. Have you changed any of the speaker wiring to the rear deck and/or door speakers? If so, what[/quote[ All speakers are original, have yet to touch any of them. Quote:
