New mustang....

I was on the road home for thanksgiving and stopped to fill up. When I came back out to the mach and jumped in the guy on the other pump tells me to roll down the window....says...is it weird I notice the good looking dog in the back seat and not your new mustang...? My dog is a shephard huskey mix, and kinda big for the back seat (I spread a blanket out so she doesn't mess up the leather) so she sits and stares out the small back window. The thing that threw me off the most was the "new" mustang comment. The mach is five years old and the only outside mods I have are the blackout headlights, shorty antenna, and lowered stance. Anyone else still get the "hey thats a nice looking new mustang" comment?

Re: New mustang....

Never gotten the "new" mustang comments. However I did have a guy ask "Where'd you get the chin spoiler?", "Is that a 3 piece grill delete?", "what paint did you use on the wing?", "how did you get the shaker to work with that Cobra R hood?" and "Who makes those wheels?".

Re: New mustang....

i actually get it all the time..people must be clueless. Got a nail in one of my tires when i put new wheels and tires on over the summer and stopped by this local shop to plug it real quick and the mechanic asked me if it was new. I thought he was talking about the tires being new not the car lol..i get a lot of what year is it, 07-08 questions..

I did have a guy ask if it had a 5.0 in it . Guess what he was driving . . . a '72 Mach 1.

I've only had 2 people REALLY know what this car is.

Re: New mustang....

I get the following:

Where did you get that hood and scoop? When I tell them "This is the way the car came from Ford" they look puzzled. This is from other people who have cars at a show. I guess that there are so few Machs that it looks strange, and Cobras are much more in abundance cause they made them for many more years.

...And my all time favorite comment is...

Father to Son: Look , That Stang has a blower! and pointing at the Shaker, almost in the same direction my wife is standing. Thats when I leaned over to my friend and said "Thats not a blower...Thats my wife!" We laughed and no one else knew why.

OTHER CARS OF INTEREST:

1987 Ford Mustang GT SOLD
1985 Jeep CJ 7 Laredo STOLEN
1974 Chevy Nova SS SOLD
1964 Mercury Comet Caliente STOLEN

I think there is a pattern here...

I just ignore that one amazing how mad people get when you say "I don't know" but that also goes with "what would you sell it for"

Re: New mustang....

"what year is that", "that a Mach 1..." (followed by silence), "that just a GT with a ground package" (I then attempt to explain, to no avail, about the engine to be cut off with) "My wife's Lincoln has a 32 valve I bet it'd be a good race", "what that thing cost sticker", "you like mustangs, huh", "She sounds mean as hell"

Re: New mustang....

I took my car to the dealership to get the strip painted on the hood. This guy came out of the showroom to tell me that my car was not a Mach 1 cause they stoped making them it 1973. But I did a nice job for a copy. I did 'nt say anything and he walked off like he told me something I did not know.

Re: New mustang....

good times..good times...

When I first got my car I was at a party and some guy was asking about the mustang in the front....to which I replied thats mine...he said, oh a mach 1...thats got the 5.0 in it, a great engine. Uhh..no, it has the same 4.6 block as the GT. He argued and argued and I even had a few people tell me....that guy knows he's cars, I wouldn't argue with him so I just laughed it off.

Just this weekend we went to the local Ford Dealer just for a look. Salesman walks up to the Mach and said, "nice looking Cobra".

Re: New mustang....

Haha! Don't you just love this stuff? Makes the car that much more fun. Yes, I have been asked if 'that's the new Mustang?'. I've been asked what body kit that is (yeah, it's stock. ) Someone asked me at the gas station as I was getting back in the car (points at shaker), 'what does that thing do?' ha! I'm like 'stand back when I start it up, b/c I'm not really sure what it might do!'

The coolest though is when someone out of nowhere DOES know what a Mach is, because they had a classic one back in the day. When they make a compliment, that's nice!

Re: New mustang....

How true this all is - I get the -- nice build job, what year is that - is that new, like your hood scoop... I stopped trying to explain the Mach to them. Now I just smile and say thanks.

Just tonight some one said - nice looking Cobra, I didn't know they made them with a scoop. Seems here in NC the big word is scoop.
