A big Ditto - you have to be willing to do more than the average to be above average. The bar will go up each year because someone always finds that one more thing to do.

No we did not have to pull the motor. We pulled hydro brake booster, Radiator fill tank, cooling fans and throttle body. Things like heater hoses on passenger side were unhooked from firewall. Fuel rail was loosened on pass side, but not removed.

This thread covers just about everything - a lot of info on first page of thread. To put it simple, work required to get valve covers off is more than half of getting to the cams. You do need quite a few tools especially if you are doing the valve springs. Other than the valve spring tools, you will also need a harmonic balancer puller, 2 torque wrenches (1 for ft pounds with 150 lb limit and another for inch pounds that goes up to at least 150 inch pounds). Will gladly answer any specific questions.

Dyno Numbers

We have never dynoyed the car - I do not believe in rear wheel dynos all that much. A lot of you have asked and I have scheduled to have car dynoed on 4/9/05. Bear in mind steeper gears cause lower numbers than stock 3.55 gears and we are pulling a 4.56 gear.

Stay Tuned - Dyno pull will be done 4/9/05

Just for comparison - motor has no internal mods - no head work - stock intake and throttle body. A stock Mach motor with cams and all the other usual bolt ons.

Race weight 3470

Nice work and very informative write-ups here!

Now all you need is a new tuned chip ... Increase your borderline and MBT spark, turn on individual cyclinder knock control (instead of global), and tweak your A/F to 12.5 as it sounds like you are currently lean. Additionally, you want to adjust the injection timing parameter based on your cam events if you are getting picky and want to inject on a closed valve which is prefered for street use. Otherwise at full throttle you are OK.

Good luck on your dyno test!

Thanks for the tips - you are right - a little lean right now. Took it to the track again tonight to play and ran 11.99@113.69. Left conservative, but track getting better each week. Pretty sure there are a few tenths left it with tune. I am shocked it is running like this on pre install tune. Cannot wait for chip reflash. Had timing set at 21.5 degrees tonight, but had no way to richen it up until tune. I am actually more impressed at the barometer vs times - barometer was 29.88 tonight and 75 degrees. Would like to make a run with the barometer higher.

Those are some awesome numbers Johnny. I can't wait to get my car put back together after Al gets done reworking my heads, and then my cams . By the way I just picked up the bassani mids and O/R X pipe today so i should be looking pretty good too.

I think you are going to fly - wish I had pulled the heads, but that will come later. Good luck - let us know how it goes.

Basically all the bolt ons....Full exhaust, 4.56 gear, JMS chip, electric water pump, slicks and skinnies, suspension, K-member and coil overs, cams, and any other mod is under the quarter mile listing. A little weight reduction by taking the back seat and spare tire out.

Our track will be the equalizer -

Still have not re-tuned since the cams - it needs it bad. Dynoing tomorrow, but will not retune tomorrow. One of those all day dyno sessions - everyone gets 30 minutes and has to move on. First time on a rear wheel dyno - doing it more for everyone that just wants to know.

Louise is welcome up here next time you visit Fulton.

Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

Ok - here we go - made three pulls in 30 minutes.

Best was 338.55 hp - 303.30 Torque Actually made 311.99 torque on one run but that run made 2 less horsepower.

Going back Monday for an SCT tune & Dyno. Not sure if I believe it, but they say there is another 20-30 hp in a tune. Car has not been retuned since the cams. It was a little lean but not 20-30 hp lean. The biggest problem was timing which probably explains the low torque. WOT timing at 4500 was only 12 degrees - timing did not go over 16 degrees until about 6000 rpm - timing peaked at 19.6. They did data log everything knowing we were coming back Monday for a tune. I cannot expalin the timing because we had data logged with the predator and it showed exactly what was in the chip - 21.5 degrees. Only thing different was we removed one of the rear O2 sensors before going over there so they would have a bung to take accurate readings rather than from the tailpipe. Rear O2 removed should not have affected the timing especially since it was turned off in the chip. We will see Monday and report results.

Remember, we have a 4.56 gear - they say that could skew the numbers lower by 5-10 HP. Dynojet customer service confirms that much gear will make the readings a little lower.

Check this out - We decided to hook up a Plasma Booster for run number two. Up to about 5700 RPM, the Plasma Booster was making a few more horsepower. After 5700 RPM the horspower dropped quickly 14 HP. Unhooked the Plasma Booster and 3rd pull was back almost dead on to the first. Since we are running so much gear - I think we wiill leave the Plasma Booster off the car. Looks like it would be good for low to mid RPMs, but gets weaker the higher the RPMs go.

Looks like these cams make smooth power all the way past 6000 RPM and that is with a stock intake and heads - no porting. Hard to tell on the printout, but you do not see that usual double peak like the stock cams. Will get more printouts on Monday with higher resolution.

http://www.aglobalmart.com/family/dyno1.jpg

AEM Wideband Digital Onboard A/F System

We have one on this car and it is dead on with readings they took .

More Numbers Monday afternoon. Stay Tuned!!!

Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

One more thing - they made us take our ET streets off and put on stock tires. We had to borrow some heavy Cobra rims and tires for dyno. Our ET Streets and Pro Star wheels weigh half of what those Cobra rims weigh. They said ET Streets would kill the numbers - first I had heard that from anyone.

Oh yeah - This DYNOSPEED Shop is first class. I was impressed. If you are close to Memphis - give them a call.

Re: Ford Racing Cams Installed - WOW!!!!!

Nazman,

I was expecting a little more, but if the timing is as bad as they said - those numbers should go up Monday.

I bet you will hit 360. Good luck and let us know.
