Auto mach needs some racing tires
I have an 80K Mach, which is my DD, with the mods listed in my sig and I'm having a lot of trouble hooking up my 315 NT 555's since I got the new converter from Darren at Circle D. When I drop the hammer at the line my car just spins the tires because I'm in the power band from the word go. If I could put the power to the ground that would be great but almost all of the advice that I see about tires is for 5 speeds. I live in south west Florida so I would only use the tires for the track since it rains a lot in the summer. So the question is, what is the best tire for my car if I will only be using the tire for the track but if possible, I would like to drive to the track in the tire I will race in? I have an extra pair of 10.5" rims to mount some tires on but I could buy some 9" rims if some 275's are what you guys would recommend.

Re: Auto mach needs some racing tires
Solid adjustable upper control arms and full length sub frame connectors helped me a lot with traction as well.
The 555 drag radials last a long time for a DR. They hook up fairly well for the street, you can drive a good distance on the freeway, and will hook okay on the track. If you need real traction there is no substitute for a full slick. I drive mine to the track on full slicks, but its only about a 10 mile drive and I can do it no highway.

Re: Auto mach needs some racing tires
I've had NT05R, MT Street Radial, MT ET street tires, and currently on MT ET Street S/S.
For the track I would go with these https://m.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3752 they hooked really good for my Procharged car with a 3600 stall

Re: Auto mach needs some racing tires
Thanks for all of the feedback, it really helps. Since I want a really sticky Tire it looks like the Mickey Thompson ET streets may be the way to go. The wheels that I have are 17-inch and I can choose between the 10.5 inch and the 9-inch. What width of wheel would you recommend and width of tire.

Re: Auto mach needs some racing tires
You want to use the smallest (lightest) wheel and tire combination that can get the job done. If you're going to use et street tires then I'd get them in a 275 and throw them on your 9" wheels. Having said that, I'd never recommend using that tire on a wet surface..
Is your rear end built?

honestly I wouldn't recommend any of those tires listed above for a wet surface, especially the ET streets. the SS tire is completely different from the ET streets and would probably be the best drag radial to have if you ever get caught in the rain.

Re: Auto mach needs some racing tires
31 spline differential ( I like the FR limited slip with carbon fiber clutches because its affordable, works well on a street driven car and it's the easiest to rebuild), 31 spline axles (moser or strange), differential cover (ta, mac, etc..), FR gear install kit, FR axle bearings/seals kit and two quarts of 75w-140 gear oil. I like the RP gear oil. Make sure whatever axles you get have studs already pressed into them.
