odometer occasionally displays all dashes after shutdown?

Ive noticed that the car occasionally (id say maybe a third of the time) displays all dashes across the odometer after I turn the car off. Ill shut it down, it displays dashes for a second or two and then powers down (everything else in the car is off by this point)

It never stalls on me, never fails to start or anything like I see when searching for dashes and odometer issues

the pcm is flashed, no chip.

It doesnt get driven a whole hell of a lot the last few months...any ideas?

Re: odometer occasionally displays all dashes after shutdown?

Kinda sounds like the battery is going out. But I would wait for some more opinions.

I agree it may be the Battery. Do the Gauges do a SWEEP, when you crank it up? If so, it's the battery for sure.

Re: odometer occasionally displays all dashes after shutdown?

nope, no gauge sweep

Ill have to wait till the procharger is installed to mess with it some more, it wont be firing up for a week or two...Weve got a battery tester in the shop here, Ill give it a good charge while its sitting then throw it on the tester.

Re: odometer occasionally displays all dashes after shutdown?

The computer is losing signal which is why it comes up as all dashes. Unfortunately, it could be the ECM going bad or it could just be a bad ground or a loose connection somewhere. I would trouble shoot that stuff before replacing parts.

I'm no electrical expert... but I did install my Raptor shift light and I'm not sure if its related to your problem with the factory guages but the shift light shouldn't be randomly flashing.
I would definitely check those connections first. Good luck.
