Oh hell no!

Texas shadow

Please dont let this dealership scew you over. They need to accomodate there customer, they just think that you wont do anything to make them make it better. Call a lawyer and see what he can do about it for you. You should be out no cash on something like this.

You could always do what they did over at VW Vortex to that VW dealer in Atlanta - Jim Ellis VW I think is the name. Owner got really bad service - posted in the forums about his ongoing problems, dealer found out and sued the guy, the national news picked up on the story and the the guy ended up prevailing. Very cool, but long thread to read.

Dealership

I left a message to the service dept manager this morning letting him know about the repair defects. The dealership's body shop called me and said I could bring my Mach1 in next week for them to work on it some more. I have to give the dealership some credit for responding to issues (or is that just standard?). I'm not sure how far to take it without it being more of a hassle than it already is. I don't know if I'll have to drop it off, how long it will take, or how much they will fix.

The attorney I called basically said to let him know if the dealership's insurance company gives me any hassle about my claim for diminished value. I get that appraised on Monday.

My husband is a Ford service Advisor and he says you absolutely need to contact Ford directly.

The dealership he works at has won the President's award 5 years in a row and he claims the way you are being treated at this dealership is deplorable.

Go to Ford.

When I take my MACH to the dealer, I stay there while they work on it. I would never drop the MACH off and leave it. Fortunately, I've not had anything that took long to deal with, yet.

A little, true war story...
First time I had my oil changed in the MACH, I was in a hurry, so I went to a local Jiffy Lube . While reading a newspaper in the waiting room , I hear a car being revved up out in the service area, much more higher RPMs than normal. I go out and several of the Jiffy Lube "kids" were standing around my car laughing and having a good time while another sits in it revving it. I just about took all their heads off. Last time I ever go there, but it's a good think I was nearby. I guess they thought I was an old fart and wouldn't say anything or something.

The collision center that did the repair work on my 04 Cobra did a FANTASTIC job on the body. The aftermarket paint has less orange peel the from the factory....

Too bad they screwed up on the mechanical repairs and my engine blew the day after I picked it up. So now, the collision center has to rent me a car for 6-8 weeks and pay $12,500 for my new Cobra engine.

Sucks to be them.

He put the car on the lift to get a close look under. Sure enough the left apron, next to the battery, is damaged and was never repaired. The is still some damage behind the headlight. When he did the pre-repair appraisal, he pointed out the damage behind the headlight to the body shop employee, as well as a scratch on the wheel above the impact to the left front tire. Apparently, the employee (for the same dealership) blew him off. There are some other scrap marks on the edge of the rim that could have been pre-existing and because of that they saw no justification repair the scratch mark that resulted from their collision.

I called the dealership's insurance company to complain about the damage that wasn't repaired (the apron, horn, and area behind the headlight), as well as the poor repair work resulting in paint defects, the fender being out of alignment (possible due to the apron damage), the loose mirror and spoiler, decal bubbles, large gap under the door, etc. They agreed to send an appraiser to look at the damage and defects. It turns out that, besides my independent appraiser, no appraiser saw my car after the collision. Instead, the dealership submitted the appraisal themselves to Electronic Claims Services. It's no wonder I was low-balled.

My appraiser hasn't sent the numbers yet; he's been out of town. But he hinted that a re-repair would probably come out being as much as the original repair. I'm interested to know how both appraisals turn out.

I'm going to push hard to get them to fix it right (at least repair what they broke). I am going to take it back this week

I also need to make a claim for my Mach1's diminished value. I got the market data from my appraiser regarding how much my Mach1 diminished in value since it is now a vehicle that has been wrecked (not including repair defects). We'll see how that goes.

TexasShadow,

I feel your pain. My new Mach was rear-ended hard with 670 miles on it, I had the car 7 days. My insurance company is looking at it today. Then I'll have to get a lawyer to get loss of value from the other guys insurance company.

Let me know how much loss of value you get on your Mach.

Check your PM.

I'll post the numbers after I get advise on how to handle the claim and get the ball rolling. The insurance company said, basically, it's not their problem that the body shop screwed up some of the repairs. They'll account only for the omissions from their original claim. However, I really do not want the dealership to do the re-repair work since they did a sloppy job in the first place.

My advise is not to trust the insurance company. They won't even tell you up front that you are entitled to the diminished value, unless you ask. Then, it's in their interest to low-ball you. I hired an independent appraiser who doesn't work the insurance companies.

I'm wondering what YOUR insurance company is doing for you. They're supposed to not only handle claims against you, but be an advocate for you when damage is done to your vehicle. Have to talked to your agent/company about this?

I wouldn't take it to the same dealer body shop, I'd go to local body shop, with a good reputation, and let them know the current situation. The dealer's insurance can just keep paying those supplemental claims until the job is done correctly, to your satisfaction.

Surfnet - my wife works in the management team for VIOC (Ashland Oil / Valvoline Instant Oil Change). They deal with claims for activities similar this all the time. Take it to the Jiffy Lube service center manager, demand a refund, and then also tell them that the car will be taken to a reputeable dealer to have the engine disassembled and checked for damage. ANYTHING that is found, they will be liable for.

Yes, I talked to my insurance company. I want to make it my last resort because I would still have to initially pay the $500 deductable to get it re-repaired at a reputable body shop until my insurance company fights the dealer's insurance company for compensation and my reimbursement of the $500. When I asked my insurance company about the Diminished Value reimbursement, they didn't seem to take much interest in that issue. They told me that I have the right to make that claim to the dealer's insurance company, but it is up to me to get an appraiser to determine that value.

You know, I realize that accidents happen. But even after the dealership wrecked my Mach1 due to negligence, their body shop ignored my appraiser after he pointed out damage that was omitted from the their appraisal. The service manager gave no credence to my appraiser. They didn't offer to cover the pre-settlement charge for the rental car until I had to demand it. The body shop did a sloppy job with the repairs, not to mention the repairs they didn't do. And how could they miss the apron damage and bent metal behind the headlight after the fender was removed? The body shop guy told me that they could make adjustments after I expressed concern that their appraisal was a grand lower than my appraisers appraisal. They never did make any adjustments; instead left the damage "hidden" as if I wouldn't notice.

Also, the owner never returned my calls. In the last voice mail I expressed to the owner my disgust with the way they were handling this ordeal that was THEIR own fault. I expressed that I regreted ever doing business with them. This is the fourth vehicle I purchased from this dealership, and it doesn't even matter. From Escort, to Mustang, to F150 XLT, to Mach1... going up with each purchase, it apparently doesn't matter.

And this is the second Mach1 that I know of that Texas Motors Ford damaged. Are they that careless??? They were not only careless with my property, the very property they sold me, but they were careless with me too, as a customer.

My .02.

Someone mentioned emailing the dealership or whatever. You sound as though you have been more than patient and understanding, I would have killed someone already Just Joking, but would have not been nearly as understanding as you. Sure contact Ford, but Ford willl only "ask" the dealer about it, I have had a very sinilar issue, but the dealershipp took care of me and even got me into an Explorer from an Escort! I would like to jump on the band wagon of emailing the turds and you might even want to "cut and paste" this thread to said dealer to let him know that the customer does deserve to be taking care of. Let m,e know when to start "spamming" these jerks! I also know of a thousand other's that would love to let them have it!

I am determine to get my Mach1 re-repaired at a reputable body shop, other than this dealership. I am finished with them. Their insurance company is still refusing to cover my Mach1 getting fixed at another dealership, with the exception of the apron damage that was omitted from their initial estimate. As for everything else, it is up to me and the dealership. To hell with that; I don't what them carelessly screwing up my Mach1 anymore. We'll see what happens after my attorney sends their insurance company a letter explaining the law.

I have no problem with anyone letting the dealership know how they feel. Like I said, I am finished with them. I regret ever doing business with them.

Texas Motors Ford used to be a good dealership. They have become arrogant, in my experience, ever since they moved to their new, "state of the art" facility. The last few times I have driven there, the salesmen were parked along side of the entry in their golfcarts watching for potential customers like vultures.
