New tires (repair)

Well after swapping a guy for his 95 Cobra R 17x9s. I knew that I would need tires soon. Also the ones that were on there were not made to be on a 17x9 rims, believe they were 225 is what the person had. Well as I was driving down the road the other day, the back tire pop and I had to find two new tires, it seem no one had 275/40-17s in stock.
The mach was on the interstate and no way I was leaving it there, so I called around and NTB had two of that size in stock and I ended up having them installed.
Those were the Sumitomo HTR Z5 tires. I had them put those on the rear and was planning on getting two more, but a friend told me about some Firestone Firehawk tires.
I ordered them and got them on yesterday.
I had them put them on the rear.
I was really happy with the Firehawk Indy 500 tire and very happy with the cost of that tire too.

Anyways, it is nice now having brand new tires all the way around and the 275/40-17 looks amazing all the way around.

Also pulled the plasti dip and really enjoying the silver color.

Re: New tires (repair)

The Firestone design is off of an older Bridgestone Potenza mold and is a tire I often recommend.

I got on it a couple of times and man did it stick good. I was really happy with it. I won't be running any on a track, but should be a great street tire.

Re: New tires (repair)

Am running the Firestones on both the Cobra and the Mach. Great tires and I owe it to John for recommending them a few years ago.

Ash, it would definitely be worth putting them on the front as well, will greatly improve the cornering.

The Firestones may not be as good as the Michelin Pilot Sports but at half the price they can't be beat for bang for the buck.

For those that still need to run an all season tire, I strongly recommend the Goodyear Exhilarate. This is coming from someone who had sworn off Goodyears. I put them on the Fusion and am very impressed with them.

Re: New tires (repair)

I've got the Firehawk on my mach1 track day car because I was looking for something that would last a little better on a worn out track. For a hard tire I have been impressed with the performance and they are wearing like iron.

Boss, I would love to, but I am not going to push the wife on getting them, it was hard enough as is for her to let me get two more after I just got the first two. Honestly, i'm just on the street and not going very hard, so should be fine.

You will be more than happy with the Firehawk on the street.

I'm sure I will. I'm already really happy with the new tires.
