Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
Just picked up the car about an hour ago. And this thing is LOUD!!! It might be a little to raspy for my taste but I'll give it a chance. I'll try and post some before and after videos later.
My old setup: BBK long tubes with a fabricated UPR catless x and magnaflow cat back with super 44's. New setup: BBK LT,s, Pypes 3in universal X, 3in Pypes M-80's with custom 3in cat back, and magnaflow 4in tips.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
I had really quiet street mufflers put on mine and cutouts right after the headers. That way I can avoid any unwanted attention.
Did you get your exhaust over the axle? Stainless Works told me they couldn't get it over the axle on mine and did sort of a modified Cobra cat back and went under the axle. I was pissed as hell at first but you cant see it and it has to flow extremely well.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
Ya my cat back goes over the axle. I wonder why Stainless Works couldn't do that for you . Can you post a pic of what they did do?

I'll post some pics later this afternoon. I'm going to be installing UCA's in the next hour and I'll take some pics while the car is up.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
They told me the combination of the Moser M9 Kenny Brown upper and lower control arms and the fuel tank setup didn't leave enough room. Plus my car is set really low. It sits so low I have to jack it up just to get it on my lift. If I get it back up on the lift I'll throw some pictures up. With it off the lift it's impossible.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
Needless to say I was pissed. It takes quite awhile to get into them for a custom exhaust. Then it can take up to 4 wks for them to do it. Their big selling point is that they piece the exhaust together. Then take it off and run this machine along it that traces all the bends. Then they take a stick of 3" and put it in a bender and my exhaust was supposed to be one piece from the header to the tip. So not only did I not get what I was paying for it ended up being more than quoted.
When I already had the car back home before I discovered it and they wouldn't even return my calls. The kicker is their price, I'm sure I have the most expensive Mach1 exhaust in existence. The only real issue I have with the exhaust is when I put it on the lift the axle drops down on the exhaust so eventually there will be some issues.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
It's been awhile, they put the exhaust on in early Spring I believe. I had other issues to deal with so I kinda let it go. At this point the car had been torn down about 2 years and had been in a shop for a year so I just wanted to keep things rolling.
Like I say I was pretty pissed at the time and still am that nobody said anything to me. Mainly because we went through the whole layout several times. But overall the exhaust works very well, looks really good and sounds awesome. The mufflers are pretty quiet on the street or I can open the cutouts a little to give it more sound (or a lot). Were supposed to take some pictures of the Machs today so maybe I'll throw up some pics.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
Here is a crappy pic of the 4" tips, they don't look that big but compared to a stock exhaust they are huge.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
I think 4" tips fit the cutouts for the factory exhaust perfectly.
I'm running 295-15 drag radials and that was another issue getting the pipe to clear the tire and the tank. They told me that it was very tight like 1/8" cold and once the stainless warmed up and expanded it would probably rub.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
My tires are 295 and have about a 2 inch clearance from the tire to cat back.

The only thing 3" exhaust does is take up more space.

Re: My Custom 3 inch Exhaust
I would tend to disagree, a dual 2.5" can only support around 450fwhp before it starts to be an issue. Plus the sound of a 3" is much better, deeper all around and quieter around town. Ive had mine on for 3 summers of cruising and racing and I am so glad I dropped the coin and time for it when I did. My car runs pretty FN good for what it is and I know it would slow down a touch with a 2.5". Remember fuel injected cars do not rely on the "venturi effect" so having a larger exhaust doesnt kill performance, it may not help but there is no downside to oversizing it. In fact if there is a slim chance you will make over 400rwhp at some point why buy 2 exhaust systems?
This is mine, but im running Kooks 1-3/4" headers now. Again its fantastic and would not change a thing
