Anyone try torco MTF fluid?

So i am installing carbon syncro rings. The manufacturer reccommends torco mtf fluid. By stats it looks to be just as thin as atf but has shock additive like regular gear oil. Just curious if anyone has tried it or am i be the first. Appears to be somewhere between syncromesh and atf.

I'd like to see pictures of the carbon rings when you get them. I was told my multiple builders that they didn't exist for the TR 3650. I actually ordered some sold as carbon, but they were just OEM style when I received them.

I pulled the trigger on the mtf fluid. It according to the data sheets its thinner than syncromesh but thicker than atf so right down the middle. We shall see.

Cool. Let us know how they perform and the feel vs OEM.

That's great to hear.

Did you rebuild your trans? Do it yourself? Or did you just install these rings and leave the rest alone?

Re: Anyone try torco MTF fluid?

How much cash does it take to rebuilt a 3650 at home these days, with the carbon synchros?

Re: Anyone try torco MTF fluid?

I got lucky. No bearings they were in great shape
$20 bucks speedo ring used on my origional trans
199 for carbon syncros and brass fork pads
The reverse fork had 2 broken pads and alot of fork wear. (I welded up the worn down spots and ground it dow )
The reverse slider was used for $75
Reverse gear i cleaned up.

Re: Anyone try torco MTF fluid?

So my 500 mile review. The carbon syncros kinda work too good for normal street driving imho, they are kinda clunky below 3k rpms but still work amazing at 7k rpm no blockouts yet no double clutching first or having to wait forever to downshift to first.

The oil i think is good but the gears are a bit noisey in my opinion when very hot at idle, no noise at all above idle or when cold. Going to try driving it some more and maybe add some extra to see if it helps with the noise.
