Lower Mileage Cars

Hi Everyone I haven’t posted in a while. I pulled my Mach out of winter storage last weekend and that got me thinking about maintenance on lower mileage cars. I have 40k miles on my Mach, mostly all I have done is oil changes in the spring and fall, fuel filter, one coolant flush/fill, and I changed the transmission and rear end fluid once. What have you lower mileage/northern (summer driven only cars) owners done to your Mach as far as preventive/upkeep maintenance? I try to go by Ford’s guide that came with the car but some of the items just don’t seem necessary biased on how my car is driven.

I am curious to see what others have done to their cars along these lines.

Thanks!

Re: Lower Mileage Cars

I'll be moving back to Iowa real soon. I never did anything special to my Mustangs except put in a bottle of Sta-bil.

Re: Lower Mileage Cars

I change the brake fluid at ever Pad change. I have a motive brake bleeder so its simple. I also changed the power steering fluid after I bought it 63 K miles.
But the biggest change I do the most is WAX !!!

Re: Lower Mileage Cars

i have 60k miles. Done the rear end fluid, coolant flush, transmission fluid, and oil changes every 3k or 6 months whichever comes first. Besides the engine oil the others where done only because of mods. i drive my car year round no winter for us in west texas.

Re: Lower Mileage Cars

Well if what I put on my Altima is any guidance my Mach would have had about 55K on mine.

Re: Lower Mileage Cars

Check the serpentine belt for signs of cracking. Check the hoses for signs of cracking and soft spots. Check your tires for dry rot. Rubber dries out and deteriorates over time.
