Air Fuel Wideband bung

Hi,

I purchased the Aeroforce air fuel wideband sensor for my gauges.

Quick question, is it possible to use the rear O2 sensor port? Or is it advised to install the bung that came with the kit?

And if so, which side should I have it install on?

Thanks!

Its advised to weld in a new bung. BUT you can use the rear ...it'll read different though. I forget how much.

It depends on if you have cats or not. I think with my O/R pipe I saw about a .2 difference between the rear sensor bungs and the one up front. With cats it was closer to .5 or .6. Either way I'd get the bung welded into the proper spot.

And shouldn't the sensor go into the exhaust that is on the side of the engine that gets the fuel first (the passenger side)?

Re: Air Fuel Wideband bung

my tuner told me the driver side (my guess is youd rather see the side thats slightly more likely to be lean where something might get hurt vs the other side being a tad rich)

I have mine on the driver's side as well. Technically, you should have one on both sides and if you were really needing to get even more accuracy then you would have one on each cylinder on the header but that's another conversation.

With a properly pressurized system, the injectors are controlling the fuel into the motor so it would not matter what side they fuel comes in first; the only thing I could imagine that would have an affect is temp differences in the fuel from the first injector to the last in line with the last having a chance to be warmer, but I cannot imagine that being an issue on our power levels. So, the question then is, would you rather monitor the hot or cold side.

These are the strange conversations I have in my head. lol

Re: Air Fuel Wideband bung

Some interesting information here!

Think I will follow suit on the drivers side.

I need to get someone to do this for me, so is it a case of taking the car somewhere and getting it in the air? And welding the bung in with exhaust still on the car or dropped slightly?

Or just remove the section of the exhaust I want someone to work on and take it to them!?

Thanks!

Re: Air Fuel Wideband bung

You want to install it with exhaust on the car in normal position to be sure it'll clear. It needs to be installed between 9 and 3 going clockwise otherwise you risk getting moisture in the sensor which can kill them. Replacing them can really add up

Re: Air Fuel Wideband bung

oh OK!

I thought I would have to drop it due to the amount of heat welding would cause.

The the sensor will be pointing in a downward direction?

Any pics of where to put it?

Thanks!

Re: Air Fuel Wideband bung

Got it all wired up and installed!

What type of readings should I expect to see?

Thanks.

I believe 14.7 is stoich so at idle Id expect to see it floating around there (mid 14s to low 15s or so). WOT I would want to see mid to high 11s personally.
