Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

This past Friday & Saturday my sons and I went to Carlisle for the Chevrolet show we stayed overnight at the same Home Wood suites. I placed had almost no guests. Masks were required in the main lobby but it was not a stuffy type situation. Employees kind of had the mask down until you got close, which is acceptable if your a person that is concerned. They did not offer a hot breakfast what they did offer was a to go bag with a bottle of water, apple, nature valley bar and a muffin and a list of other items you could request. These items were pretty good. The one employee explained the hotel just doesn't have any money. They were not sure if this would change by August. I did ask about using the grills and our BBQ to which they said they didn't have any restrictions on that. Marzzoni's the place next store had just opened on Friday evening for inside dinning. We ordered take out as we arrived late and they were closing at 9:00 PM.

The show field had signs and barriers up for employees as most stores have done. However the use of the mask was requested I didn't see anyone upset about others not wearing them. I wore mine when ordering food and when entering employee areas that were tight. I want to say it was relaxed but people still utilized masks. I also didn't notice anyone shaming anyone for wearing the masks. The Chevy show was very small about 1/3 the size.

To add to that I was just informed that I'll be taking mandatory unpaid furlough days my crappy government run union so graciously accepted from the Governor. Which will send me into a political rant that is not allowed here...
So I'm not sure whats up for me at the moment...

Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

Sounds good Scott, still planning on going Thursday thru Sunday. Just got back from a week at OCMD (Great Pandemic Prices for Condo on the Beach..). Beautiful beach weather, no mask required on the beach but people respected setting up social distances with their groups. Restaurants were open for indoor seating but you needed a reservation as they were about 1/2 capacity or less. Like you said it was a very relaxing atmosphere with nobody freaking out about it and just wearing masks where required...

Good for you, sounded like a nice get away... We still plan on attending the show even if the mortgage doesn't get paid... lol
Since any type of vacation this year looks bleak this will be our vacation. Still plan on doing Drag Week 2020 if its still on.. See what the quarantine wars are like in September.

Unhappy Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

Giving a lot of thought to current status of this pandemic Pam and I along with Jeff and Lori have made the tough decision to cancel Carlisle this year. We are certainly going to miss all of you that are still planning on attending but God willing we will be there next year. We hope everyone going stay's safe and has a great time.

Hello Melissa,
Will you guys be making the trip? I know the border has been closed for non-essential travel not sure if they'll extend it past the current July 21, 2020 date. Just trying to get a better idea of a number of people.

Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

Got mine also. Basically where we were last year.
Not a bad spot except for the dyno pulls..
The State of Confusion (where I work) was nice enough to give me off next week without pay... So I took the following week off vacation also leading up to Carlisle.. With any luck I'll get that unemployment check by Christmas... Retirement in 5 years 351 days 6 hours....

Driving the 70’ up again this year but really tempted to take the new 14’ GT500 , definitely takes the sting outta driving to work at 5:20 am every day...

Bring the 500. We're most likely going to leave the 66 at home this year. Between various surgeries and the temperature, it's going to be easier to just bring the GT/CS and the Shelby.

Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

Found out my gate-n-go packet went to my old address and wasn't forwarded. Trying to get a replacement letter now.

I'm not sure which Mustang to bring this year. We may bring the John Clor Special instead of the Shelby.

Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

All, after much thought we have decided not to attend this year. We have our second grandchild due in late November and are taking extra precautions so we can spend time with our family. We are really going to miss everyone and all of the fun but think it’s the best thing to do right now. Everyone have a safe trip and please share pictures!

Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

Sorry to hear of those who cannot make it this year. Each persons own choice to do what is best for them obviously. Absolutely look forward to seeing everyone unmasked next year... Hopefully!!

I adjusted the list a bit to reflect the lesser amount of participants. I don't think we've ever been under 20 people for Thursday night dinning.. Currently looks like 18 of us still able to attend. If anything else changes please let me know. I will call next week to adjust numbers with TJ Rockwell's and check on any restrictions or rules to dinning.

Does 40 hot dogs & 40 hamburgers seem sufficient for our 2 evenings of BBQ? Old School was doing the Smack Yo Mamma in Da' Mouth Chicken again.. I'm going off the numbers we have listed.

Thoughts or Opinions??

I'm hearing from a "very Good Authority" that the new Mach 1 will be at Carlisle this year, but no new Bronco.

Re: Carlisle 2020 - - - Who's in?

I will not be doing the show field this year. Heart just isn't into it this year. Will join you guys for the cookouts and use the day time to try to get stuff done around the house. This year has been hectic with work. We were deemed essential 5 minutes after the closures started. I was in NYC the week before they shutdown and the week they reopened. Have been very blessed to have avoided the virus (or at least not getting sick if I had it) with as much as I travel. Had an uncle pass away from complications from it.
